Heh. I assumed it was just me. But the site's been up and down a lot in the last ~18 hours, so I'm guessing the "unknown" is related?

I dunno what's wrong with it, but it's erratic availability this morning has left me a bit shaky, anxious and a little gassy. So maybe it's gas.

I knew I should've screencapped the error message I got this morning. To my untech eyes, it looked like a database issue. Of some flavor.

I'm getting "(unknown)" after it shows the number of comments in a thread, instead of, say, "10 comments (7 new)".

Is anybody else getting this?

Unfortunately, the answer is currently - I don't know.
I believe that there's some unoptimised queries which are causing MySQL to max out the server. I don't know what these queries do, but turning off the (x new comments) functionality appears to either stop them being called or stops them taking so long.

I investigate. Slowly. Like a man who knows not what he searches for.
