Well. Hm. This is quite the biography for Florence Harding at Wikipedia. Not a case of wiki vandalism... just, well - have a look. Here's a rather kinder bio of the former first lady.
Wow. Absolutely no citation and tons of loaded language.

They left out the word "harpy."

Yeah, WTF?

The word that came to mind was "formidable." There's some who like that in a woman. . .

There's a very good and thorough bio here. She was quite the liberal activist... so many things. Here's one:

The First Lady also shared a vision for a "community of women working together under the guidance of other women," and supported a prison reform movement that grew from the harsh experiences of women suffragists in prison. A diverse consortium of women's groups that Florence Harding supported, including the American Association of University Women, the National Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, the American Federation of Teachers, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the League of Women Voters, and the national Women’s Christian Temperance Union sought to protect women inmates from the exploitation of male inmates and staff and to provide a communal setting with provisions for nurseries and childcare to imprisoned women. It would result in Alderson Reformatory Prison, the first federal correctional institution exclusively for women prisoners, located in West Virginia.

oh, hey! Now a POV warning has been added, and a discussion about this started - was that one of us? Hellloooo?

and that second bio link I posted is great. She worked for women's rights, humane treatment of animals, veterans care and benefits, hated racism, and seems to have been a general activist for all "downtrodden" people. Very smart about media and PR at a time when nobody even really recognized these things very much. Very actively involved.

I'm very sure she wasn't a saint, but wow - what a difference from the wiki piece.

She sounds like my grandmother, as far as the devotion to liberal causes and organizations and the general rock star aspects. Though if someone libeled my grandmother like that Wiki writer did Florence Harding, I'd track him down and box his ears.

Wow that's quite a hatchet job. And thanks for bring her to my attention. I'd never read about her before.

what's funny is that someone apparently saw the POV notice, and did make a change... but only about the part where her father accuses Harding of having "black blood".

Anyhoo, I know I could make changes myself, but I would like to see a known wiki editor tackle it. I'm sure it will be fixed. In the meantime can we just add "Rebellious Witch Whores" to the category list?

Every time I see the phrase "black blood," I think of the Tube Bar prank call tapes; at some point Red gets so mad he threatens to "cut [the caller's] belly open so you can see the black stuff inside." Or something close.

Uh, I don't know what my remembering Tube Bar Red quotes says about me, but it can't be very good.
