Inauguration concert! Up 'til now I haven't exactly had inauguration fever...but I'm listening to the concert live on NPR and it's quite a show. Great readings and quotes and historical interludes, great music (including Springsteen).[More:] It's definitely making me grin big. Wow - all that campaign work, all those "he'll never get elected, America's still too racist" comments - Wow, we did it!
Thanks for the heads up, now I'm listening, too!

I watched on tv. U2 were a surprising crowd favorite (after Stevie Wonder I guess, but I was cooking lunch and missed his performance), Steve Carrell looked like he was wondering why he was there, Jack Black cracks me up no matter what he's trying to do, and I cried during Pete Seeger's "This Land is Your Land"... until I had to say "OMG is that George Lucas singing in the crowd!?"

I was offended that Beyonce felt the need to lip synch. For crying out loud, Pete Seeger is almost a century old and could barely croak out the words, but his performance was moving and true. If ever there was a time in your career to be authentic it was now. Ugh. I didn't notice if anyone else was lip synching, but with her it was obvious.

All in all it was pretty damn cool, very moving.

U2 were a highlight for me. Bono changed the lyric in "Pride" from "early morning, April 4" to the historically correct "early evening, April 4."

I was also really glad to see Bettye LaVette.

There is a webcast on hbo.com tonight at 7 and again at 11:30 pm EST/PST. Also, HBO is making the show available for non-subscribers and subscribers on some cable/satellite providers (US and territories only)at the same times. Check with yours for details.

Aaron Copland = sakura crying with pride, lots of hugging, real feelings of absolute joy. :) We are both really proud to be Americans right now.

So the Obama team decided not to include Gene Robinson's invocation as part of the broadcast? WTF are they thinking??

If you're gonna pander, y'all, you have to follow through. Jeebus.
