I just did, though not intentionally. And man, these paper clips (regular metal, jumbo smooth, from Office Max) really STINK!

staples version of your paperclip: no smell
In fact, I have seven different styles/sizes of clips within arm's reach, and none of them smells. Hm.

After I noticed that the one on my desk smelled (I was absently playing with it, then resting my hand on my chin, which is how this happened), I went for some fresh out of the box. They smell too.
