Would have been funnier at about a tenth of the length. After a while, the distinction between parody and seriousness breaks down, and then it's just one more lame blog post.
I agree, Jalt. I couldn't even make it all the way through. Which, in a way, makes it the apex of HRO's craft, as it were.
Then again, it took me a few days to realize that HRO was a parody at all (which says a lot more about how densely I already monitor the bloghouse scene).
The fact that it's so 'dense' and impenetrable to 'outsiders' is a perfect illustration of why today's hip culture is completely bankrupt when it comes to affecting culture or society as a whole and thus not worth bothering with.
you mean the dogs playing poker? The fact that thumbless animals can't shuffle rquires a suspension of disbelief, I understand, but it's still accessible if you try.

Well, when I say 'dense' I mostly mean in terms of length, but youth culture has always been inherently hostile to the perceived "outsiders," hasn't it? It's built into the adolescent psychology of differentiation and all that.
I do not know what to think of this blog. On one hand s/he makes fun of Animal Collective, so s/he may be sort of like me. On another hand s/he makes fun of TV on the Radio, so s/he is probably nothing like me.
