Ok I'm getting the wow's and excites from O's inaugural blog. For some reason I've always loved the behind the scenes prep more than the actual show. But I ain't missing this one. I'm gonna bawl, I think. It is HUGE.

The theatre in our town is giving away tickets for a free giant-screen showing of the ceremonies on Thursday. I got mine! That'll be a fun lunch hour.

I am really bummed. I had planned to take the day off with my wife and watch the events, but now I'm going to be stuck in a meeting for 2 hours. One of my biggest accounts is in town for an annual face-to-face meeting, so I'll be tied up for 2 hours in the late morning. I'm pretty sure he's a hardcore Republican, so that's just another day for him.

There's a parade around a park near my house, and

Drums, trumpets, stilts, flags and banners are encouraged.

After that, there's a party at a neighborhood Kenyan restaurant with free apps and drink specials. Jealous? I'm jealous of myself!

I'm so excited! I wish there was some kind of group celebration planned around here, but I'm in McCain country. I'm definitely keeping the girl home to watch, though. Especially since y'all gave me the go-ahead.

More trivia: Obama will be sworn in on the same Bible Lincoln was sworn in on. He'll be the first to do so since Lincoln. (I can't find the link at the moment...)
