60,000 Piece Lego Battle of Hoth Diorama Not much to say except I'm impressed. For old times sake, time-lapse Lego Millennium Falcon build.

Uh, Marxchivist, I just totally swiped this for a Mefi post. I hope that doesn't offend you, I got so excited it wasn't on Mefi that I didn't think about it.

In other words, great post!

Gah, I'm so embarrassed now.

No problem here, I thought about posting it on Mefi but for some reason I just didn't. Glad someone ran with it.

Big relief, Marxchivist. I've posted only once before on Mefi and really feel the lack of participation.

Thanks!

Goddamn but that makes me want to play with Legos again so bad.

Who else here had the big box of random Legos growing up?

I had the big random Lego box, and now my six-year old nephew has it. Actually, an upgrade: I got him a big tackle box for the Legos this Christmas, and he and I built a castle to his design, with a great hall; a dining hall with an adjoining kitchen, stained glass windows, and a long table placed with bread trenchers; a bedroom with a trapdoor to the dungeon, where an orc lay in bondage (he digs Tolkien and D&D games); a tower with arrow loops; and a working drawbridge and portcullis.

I kept the blueprints he drew, because they're unbelievably cool and detailed for a six-year old, and I like stuff like that. Plus it's evidence for my pride.

My brother had tons of Legos as a kid. I started my older son on them, but he lost interest in favor of Fisher Price castles and pirate ships. Recently, my 11 has been requesting Legos, so that was one of his Christmas gifts. The price of Legos these days amazes me! He wanted Legos Castles, but one of the coordinating sets was priced over $100.00!

My younger brother and I had LEGOs as kids. Sometime in my mid-20s he gave me a container full of them; I still have it.
