I am in Regina, SK. It was -36 here yesterday (with no winchill) and about -16 (which feel like about -31 with the windchill). After getting home from work today, I opened the door to retrieve my mail - my cat ran and hid in a cupboard for the next hour and a half.

This is one COLD winter... but its a good excuse to cook something in the oven, sit on the couch, and watch Team Canada play Sweden on TV...

And a minor PS: I'm a bit worried about spillover from the Russia-Ukraine gas dispute - 50% of Poland's gas comes from Gazprom-sourced pipelines.

What has happened to the prices and supply of natural gas over the last few years sucks. While we aren't at the mercy of the Russians in Western Canada, the oil companies working in the Athabasca Tar Sands buy up the gas so they can extract oil... so regular people pay more just to keep their houses warm.

It was 72 here today (SC, USA) and the humidity was high enough to feel muggy.

-10 C here overnight in England, which is unusually cold. We have duvets though.
