"The Codex of Alchemical Engineering" is a fantastic logic/sequencing/engineering puzzle game that has sucked up my afternoon, just with the first five levels. Read the instructions given here, since the site itself has very few. Then, try the game.[More:] N.B.: I've had trouble getting it to play well in Firefox.
This is brilliant.

I, unfortunately, am not.

Yeah, this is beyond me. Well, maybe not beyond me, but requiring more total attention than I want to give it on my designated Veg Night.

I did, however, send it to my dad the engineer, and expect it will deliver hours of enjoyment.

It's just the kind of game I like, only not now. It kind of reminds me of an old PC game I had that had to do with bouncing combinations of sports balls into a goal. They all bounced differently from one another and differently off different surfaces, and the game kept changing the floor layout and angle. That was a great game.

As a good engineer, I kept when something went wrong (like a collision), instead of trying to figure out what, I just added waits on one side or the other, (padding both sides to keep the cycles uniform), repeating this until it worked.

Damn alchemists and their lack of mutexes.

wow, that first paragraph looks written by a first grader on drugs.

Didn't you run out of memory on the devices? That's what made me give up. (I'm not an engineer at all, I'm a kludge-shit-together office type, so was doing a roughly similar thing)

Back for another try now...

I think I've found a bug.

On level 4, use the following string for your save:

http://users.tpg.com.au/pomtom/Alchemyfail.txt

The molecule jumps! grrrrr...

I don't see the bug, pompomtom... you have two molecules that get stacked on top of each other over on the lower right, causing the crash.

Here's how I solved level 4:

b,9,10;b,3,10;m,13,10,90,2,crolwwwwwwww;m,1,10,90,2,cdlollluwwww;m,7,10,90,2,cdllu22lr2orr;m,7,5,90,1,crrollwwwwwww;

I finally solved level 6 last night. It involved doing what qvantamon said, and adding pauses at the right times.

Darn, that save code I posted got truncated. If you want to see it, email me and I'll send it to you.
