Did you see this documentary on the same subject? At some point the polar bear is positively hugging the dog.
Seems to me that the dogs look like baby polar bears to the bears.

I'd seen the photos, but not the video. Wow. Really reminds me of the way Kaylee (our dog) plays with our cats.

jouke - funny you say that. The dogs were making puppy-like gestures to the bears. Maybe the dogs think the bears are big dogs.

Well deborah, we humans have bred our pets to remain juvenile in their behaviour. That's very obvious in cat behaviour. I don't know as much about dogs but I suspect it's true of dogs too.
The polar bears are stealing our pets. Or to put it differently; they're falling for the same interspecies ploy that the dogs play on us!

I can't wait for the polar bear playing "fetch" pics.
