Health/diet AskMeCha (kind of embarrassing) "Sassy water is an easy-to-make mixture of water with a lemon, a cucumber, grated ginger and spearmint leaves." This is supposed to help you stay more healthy and de-bloat (whatever, right?). [More:]Okay, I like water, lemon, ginger, and mint. I haaaaaate cucumber. What could I substitute? Or just make without?
Sassy water

what an absolutely horrible name.

I know. I should just off myself right now for even typing those words.

I hate the word 'sassy' with the passion of a thousand suns, and once you add all that other shit to it, it's not exactly 'water,' anymore.

Just make without. I think the cuke would balance the acid of the lemon, though.

I think sassy water is a hilarious name. To do it justice, you might consider using Sassafras in some way as the cuke substitute. (Note, though, that there's controversy over using sassafras root)

I think sassy water is a hilarious name.

It sounds like a Victorian euphemism for pee. "Excuse me, I have to go make Sassy Water!"

Cucumber water taste a lot different than just old cucumber, try it without teh green skin if you really dislike it but it's really there to take the edge off the lemon like Stewriffic says. I like it. :) Never heard it called sassy water though. I just do it because regular old water bores me after a while and I add a dash of ths or that to keep drinking it (waater is good for ya, but if I had my way it would be coffee coffee all day long).

Another nice one is to pour a shot of grapefruitjuice in water and add a few rasberries.

OK, I'm just hearing this being read in Phil Hartman's voice like in the Sassy magazine parody skits.
SASSY!

You could try a stick or two of celery instead of cucumber. I just googled 'sassy water' and reports of its efficacy are mixed. It's not, I'd say, going to reduce bloating any more than drinking 2L of plain water would.

I drink this combo:
Water
Lemon Juice
Honey
Cayenne Pepper

Tastes like spicy V8. I drink this whenever I feel bloaty, and it does work better than plain water, at least for me.

This is what the uber-skinny models drink instead of eating. It really curbs the appetite. I find that I eat smaller portions when I've been drinking this for about 4 days in a row.

Honestly, I just love the taste.

The taste and vit/min benefits of cucumber are in its skin - I don't think it'd be the same without it. Borage leaves are often used as a substitute for cucumber in Pimm's - I'd give that a shot, if you can get some.

I also love the name sassy water - "we're bloated, bitches, so bring it on!".
