It's a Very Merry Notebook I'm currently typing on. As in, Woo! I got a cute-as-a-bug little Thinkpad for Christmas.

It's all kind of weird, really, because for one thing, we can't exactly afford it... but apparently we can't exactly not; our CPA told us we needed to spend some money before the end of the year (related to V.'s business designation), or it would just be taken by taxes next year.
So, while we really need to save (we have no savings, basically), and we really need new living room furniture... we ended up splurging on this notebook, a couple of flat screen (at last! urgh.) monitors, and a printer (ours died years ago).
The second odd thing is that, okay, we needed the receipt to be cut in 2008, so while lots of places say that they carry this or that, what they really mean is come in, we'll order it, you come back in a week or two and get it. Wouldn't work for our situation, so I found the number for the Thinkpad distributor, and V. called to see what nearby retailer would have it in stock... and the guy he talked to told him to come to their place (which is near us). So, V. walks in, there are a bunch of guys walking around in business suits, and a receptionist, but no products, no displays, nothing. It's just a corporate place of business. Someone eventually takes him somewhere to someone's office where he tells them what he wants, and they send somebody to bring a boxed one up from the bowels of the building, V. pays for it without ever seeing it - at 500 euros less than the price he was quoted by a retailer he called. And he brings it home. And now I'm writing this post on it - a Thinkpad that we apparently bought wholesale, though we have no idea why the distributor decided to sell it to us directly. Oddness.
Anyway, I love it! It's adorable! And my old laptop was just limping along, constantly freezing up and crashing. So, woo! Joyeux Woo!
