Update on your favorite gimp. [More:] Just got back from the podiatrist. Turns out I have waht is called an avulsion fracture and said that I'm going to be in this cast for at least three more weeks. they also strongly recommend quitting smoking (it impedes bone healing). So, looks like youse guys are stuck with me a while longer. Talk and even visits are appreciated. Otherwise I'll go crazy and start gibbering. And nobody likes a gibbering gimp.
Also, somebody who has my number, please dial it, I seem to have misplaced my phone.

I just called you but it went straight to voice mail after no rings.

dammit. I didn't hear it here. It must be in the car I took. Do me a favor, pinky: call pips and tell her to call Continental Car Service at 1-718-424-1111 or 1-718-507-8006. I had it when I called the car from the doctors office and agian when I called from the street to ask where it was. Thank you and cross your fingers.

Will they hold your job open for you, jon? I'm so sorry you'll be out for three more weeks!

yeah. I even talked to the payroll guy to set up disability and everything.

That's good.

She didn't answer, but I left her a long, rambly voice mail.

I do appreciate pinky's help and allayouse guys company, thanks.

pips has returned my call! She needs the pickup address for the doctor's office to call the car company so they can check with the driver.

It was 28-56A 41st street in Astoria. Thank you so much, pinky!

Also, tell my wife that I'm an imbecile and that I'm lucky that I have her to look out for me. (and tell her I straightened out everything with work and got the ball rolling on disability.)

Check out that service! Now, can someone invent a small emergency to get me out of work today and tomorrow? Chewie? You're nearby!
posted by Stewriffic 22 December | 13:47
OK! She's got the message. I'm leaving now to go shopping, so from this point on you're on your own :-D

Heh, Stew. It's Monday - is that enough of an emergency?! I'm waiting on an update for beers @ the Federal. If a raincheck is issued, up for MoJoe's?

Bummer on the footsies, jonmc. :( this way you get a fresh start in 2009! It's awesome they're holding your job spot. I bet all kinds of regulars are wondering where your skinny butt is.

Oooh. Federal? Tonight? Dinner/drinks? I'll email you, chewie.

One more message from pips ( via voice mail)- the car company didn't have the phone, so it's been deactivated for now.

Yikes... losing a phone like that must be traumatic. I did that once, and just ended up having to bite the bullet and get a new (free, refurbished) phone using my wireless insurance plan.

What time does Pips get home usually? Once I get settled into my new place (after Jan. 10) I can meet both y'all on a weekday after work and I might be able to wrangle up a Joe Famous for ya, too.

I managed to lose two phones within one week this year which means that I'm locked into a two year contract with Verizon in exchange for a phone that I had for five days. I managed to replace the second phone for fifty bucks on ebay since I couldn't afford to buy a new one.

I'd keep the foot if I was you.
