Happy Chanukah everyone! I decided to celebrate Chanukah by making hummus. With extra olive oil. (It is traditional to celebrate with oil-containing foods, which are usually fried, but I think this is a good variation.)
I love hummus especially on not-quite-burnt english muffins, and extra olive oil is fine by me.

I am currently listening to Handel's "Messiah" and watching my Hanukah candles burn at the same time. Ah, the benefits of a multicultural society...

Day two should be pesto. And yes, Happy Chanukah! No Jews == no Jewish food == vastly diminished global cuisine.

My mom makes the best latkes. We used to stand around the stove with our plates waiting for the next batch. Mmmm... latkes.

You too!
I am making latkes on Tuesday and I can't wait.
Pips and everyone else, if you have a good dependable latke recipe, please share!

Happy Chanukah! (And thanks for the reminder--I have to call my mum.)

And yes! Latke recipes! Pretty please?

Make sure you call it Chummus, though.

OK, chococat, good idea.

I've used this recipe before with good results. No need to use fancy Yukon Gold potatoes; russets work just fine.

My SO has busted three blenders making hummus. Whenever I see chickpeas in water these days I prepare for kitchen appliance disaster. (He also busted our hand mixer making bread dough - aargh!)
