Happiness is ... playing "Give A Little Bit" on an electric 12-string guitar.
Can you sing it in that high Roger Hodgson voice too?

I really liked Supertramp back in the day, and I do have some vinyl of theirs. I might have to look at getting some digital versions too.

Oh, and in my mind's eye I want to build a guitar where the 3 bass strings are doubled, and the three treble strings are not.

I haven't been able to sing on key since puberty, and not for lack of trying. I don't even have a good speaking voice. I've tried varying the pitch and it still sucks. Funny voices I can do fairly well but I can't write good material. I am hoping that once I get settled into an area that has some culture I can explore those avenues.

The first BC Rich Bich models had a 10-string guitar with octave strings on the 4 bass strings and singles for the other two. Aerosmith used them on a couple songs at the time.

Two kinds of ice cream, finding your skate key, telling the time.

I have an acoustic one, I'll have to try it.
I hate that it's in a commercial for laundry soap or something here in Canada.

Heh, now BC Rich is all about heavy metal. Their designs are comical anymore. Their best design is the Mockingbird, the one with binding. I know Geddy Lee played a Mockingbird bass. They used to be an interesting guitar company at one time.

And, yeah, I know it's been done, but it's not common. Just think how an OM style guitar would sound that way...

I doubt BC Rich is even american owned anymore. One thing I noticed with my 12-string is that the octave string can drown with the slightest crunch. Except for delay and some reverb, it likes super clean amp settings. Also if a chord gets too complex, I sometimes have to figure out a different fingering or drop out the fifth cuz it gets muddy. You can only intonate them so far, but once you learn their limits, damn but they sound pretty.

chococat: A lot of tab sites say it's an A chord but it's actually an A7.

Not only is it in a commercial, this song has also been a relatively successful hit for the Goo Goo Dolls recently. Here's a link if you haven't heard it:

They don't really add much to the original...

I like Supertramp a lot... not all their music, but their vibe. Like a group of flower children.
