Happiness is ... playing "Give A Little Bit" on an electric 12-string guitar.
I haven't been able to sing on key since puberty, and not for lack of trying. I don't even have a good speaking voice. I've tried varying the pitch and it still sucks. Funny voices I can do fairly well but I can't write good material. I am hoping that once I get settled into an area that has some culture I can explore those avenues.
The first BC Rich Bich models had a 10-string guitar with octave strings on the 4 bass strings and singles for the other two. Aerosmith used them on a couple songs at the time.
Heh, now BC Rich is all about heavy metal. Their designs are comical anymore. Their best design is the Mockingbird, the one with binding. I know Geddy Lee played a Mockingbird bass. They used to be an interesting guitar company at one time.
And, yeah, I know it's been done, but it's not common. Just think how an OM style guitar would sound that way...
I doubt BC Rich is even american owned anymore. One thing I noticed with my 12-string is that the octave string can drown with the slightest crunch. Except for delay and some reverb, it likes super clean amp settings. Also if a chord gets too complex, I sometimes have to figure out a different fingering or drop out the fifth cuz it gets muddy. You can only intonate them so far, but once you learn their limits, damn but they sound pretty.
chococat: A lot of tab sites say it's an A chord but it's actually an A7.
Not only is it in a commercial, this song has also been a relatively successful hit for the Goo Goo Dolls recently. Here's a link if you haven't heard it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKIV3M_H9_E
