Unsolved Mysteries: One of the most surreal things I have ever seen.... [More:]One day, about 5 years ago, I was driving home from work on a rainy Seattle evening. There was vacant, muddy lot on the corner of an intersection, where a McDonalds had recently been torn down. In the middle of this ankle deep mud hole was a small group of rather average looking people, playing drums, flutes, tambourines, etc. while dancing like hobbits in a circle around a small, plastic, Fisher-Price type toy McDonalds.

All I could think to myself as I stared in cross-eyed bemusment was, "Wha?? Are they trying to grow a new one??", which of course lead to several images in my head with "Dr. Shrinker"-esque special effects. To this day I can't pass that corner without wondering what the hell that was all about....

Anyone else haunted by a mystery like that?
I'd guess it was just silliness. The only mystery I have is 86 cent day.

Once, deep in the heart of a very suburban town—the kind of place which has ordinances that limit the number of dogs you can own to two—I drove by a park filled with people marching in formation. Each person had a sheep on a leash.

On the school bus one morning I saw a naked blond women standing on the front steps of a house throwing boots and shoes at a man cowering behind an old pickup truck. I really want to know the back story there.

My brother and I once swore on our five senses that we saw a train suddenly appear out of nowhere on a set of tracks we were crossing late at night. Does that sort of thing count?

How would I know? I wouldn't know, because my mind is a sieve. Except with much bigger holes. I say this because I remember that sometime just within the last month or so I saw something that had me literally blinking and rubbing my eyes in disbelief, just like in the movies when people see something they think can't be true, and I even thought at the time, "huh. This is exactly what people in the movies do when they can't believe their eyes. Do they put that in movies because that's what people do naturally, or am I doing this now because I see it in the movies?"

I can remember all that, yet I can't remember what I saw that was so fucking unbelievable. Doesn't it seem like it should be the other way around? Maybe I finally figured it out and it turned out to be unremarkable, and thus I forgot it - or else I'm turning into the guy in Memento bit by bit. I don't know. How would I know?

I've had more odd things happen to me and my family than I've randomly seen by the side of the road.

Like the guy who physically attacked my dad with an American flag. A bit like this Pulitzer-winning photo, except all the participants were white and there wasn't any good reason.
