Wow, I wish I hadn't followed the link -- that picture breaks my heart.
I clicked away ASAP but I'm glad the comments were positive -- could this be the much-sought non-totally-shitty corner of the Web?
Also, I did not know about that site, but I like Cheezburgers, Hotdogs, and Failblog -- would I like it or is it always kind of mean, like this one picture? I can't bear to look at it again but I will take recommendations.
Strange -- I found that photo *so* uplifting. The guy may be homeless, but he has his dog and his dog has him. Ignore the stupid "fail" -- this is a beautiful sight.
Pie and I found this together. The thing to note is that faildogs is not a political site, it is a humor site. In other words, the motive for the post was not to show a societal fail, but to invoke laughter in the poor saps who would find the pain of others amusing.
loiseau - The pictures on faildog have changed over time. We didn't just find this one, we also found some pretty disturbing "art" and a lot of pics that were just not interesting. The whole site is, well, FAIL.
It's really very sad, because this pic is very emotional, both encouraging and devastating. It deserves to be in an opinion piece, not a place to be the butt of a joke. We were really encouraged by all the commenters who felt the same.
The picture is really moving, and the responses are encouraging. Putting it up was mean, and whoever left it up is a dick. That dog is well-loved, and that man looks like he needs somebody to love.
That photo is why dogs are full of awesome. Dogs don't give a shit what your station in life is. Dogs are about loving and loyalty. Things I fail miserably at, but my dogs still are happy to see me when I come home. That's an awesome photo, and I wish I could see it without the added graphic. Thanks for putting this up. It put a tear in my eye, but also made me realize how lucky I am with Silver and Saffron.
Here's the pic without the stupid caption (there was a tiny link under the "fail" pic). It really is a touching picture. If you click on the plain one, you get an even larger version.
