Life is cool sometimes. [More:] It's been a gray, yucky day here all day, so after work I decided to stop by our local hangout for a couple of beers (Sweetwater 420- yummy local brew) and an order of jalapeno poppers. I enjoyed them while reading through the local free-alt-paper.

The waiter came up to me and said, "Man, my boss logged me out of the register before I'd totaled your order, so this is all on the house." Hell yeah!

Funny thing was, I was just about to abandon the rest of my 2nd beer and head home, but when he said that I had to stay and finish it, because hey, free beer.

(And yes, he got a really good tip. This was at the Mad Italian, for those of y'all who've been here.)
I want beer and jalapeno poppers. Please?

What time does he leave work tomorrow?

Oh, man. I want poppers. Maybe I can get Mr. Blandings to make me some.

He makes them? He's a keeper.

I've always wondered how they get the breading to stick. Seems like it would slide right off.

That's brilliant.

My version:

I went to the pub at lunchtime yesterday. Walked in, said 'Hi' to the bartender, who had started pouring my pint already. Then I pulled out my wallet and remembered that I'd given all my money to the SO that morning.

Bartender reasoned that if I didn't have any money, I obviously couldn't pay for the beer. Smiles all around.

pups, he uses the standard breading technique: roll in egg, dredge in breadcrumbs. I always figured it would slide right off, too, but apparently it doesn't.

Free Beer! You should buy a lottery ticket next.

I would like to say that the phrase "because hey, ____________" is now my new favorite conversational winner.

And Sweetwater 420! Yummo!

Oh! Today the cute girl at the coffee shop gave me free coffee, after I lamented the new, much higher estimate on my car's repair. (They found more broken bits)

I think she's into me...

Dammit mudpuppie. Now, I'm gonna wrack my brain to try and remember where I've heard that. Then, I'll probably not remember, because my memory is for shit lately. Then I might remember, maybe but either way, I'm gonna have to google that.

I wish my brain worked better like.

Oh, and BoPo's story rocks. Reminds me of a time when Jen and I went to Subway for lunch. When it came time to pay, the girl at the cash informed me that her boss says to give away one lunch per day, and that she'd recognized me, and thought that I'd be the lucky free-lunch-receiver for that day.

Made me want to call my mom, who always told me that there was NO FREE LUNCH, that there was, in fact, OCCASIONALLY a free lunch.

Nice, kelly!

That is very cool, BP. I can't think of a time where I got something on the house. I do expect it to happen in my lifetime and will be anxiously waiting for it.

-Deep Thoughts

I had one step above poppers yesterday. A couple guys at work were going to Bueno Y Sano and I sent them off with a request for a burrito and three of their cream cheese and mushroom stuffed, grilled jalapenos. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Awesome, BP! I'd have stayed, too. Sounds damn yummy, even if it's only lunch time.

Go Kelly! I've met some cool people from that site.

This morning the guy I've been seeing gave me yoghurt that he bought especially because he knew I was staying over! And he even bought the kind I like without knowing it! Free, thoughtful, exciting breakfast.
