Newsflash: I have overcome my longtime fear of toggle bolts.
Just googled toggle bolts, I am definitely NOT afraid of them, although I could see how you could find them to be sinister, chewatadistance. Did you once have a dream that one, seemingly innocuous toggle bolt, attacked you in some wicked fashion? Because I could understand how that would creep you out.
I suspect, that your fear was somewhat more benign, though, and involved installation of a toggle bolt, or something like that.
I hate toggle bolts. I hate that you have to make such a big hole and that you can't get the back out again. One of the best inventions ever is the wall anchor, letting you do the same job without all the fiddling around. They still make a huge hole in the wall, though. Much better just to leave things on the floor, in the end.
The day that America abandoned Picture Rail moulding was the day we doomed ourselves to toggle bolts. No holes, just your choice of pretty hangers. Get the height or centering wrong? No problem, fix it with a shove, or tie a new knot.
As I type, I can hear my new downstairs neighbor hammering something into his wall, probably wondering why that trim thing is right about where he wants to put the nail..
