I am surprisingly angry to see my nick used by other people in places I don't frequent.

I mean, how dare they.

I got miffy that other people were using my nick, but when I actually clicked for more info, it gave me some variation on "this user does not exist."

For the record, I'm only jrossi4r here and Mefi. Any other jrossis are false prophets.

What the heck? CitrusFreak12@gmail.com? Seriously? Who the hell took that? I just tried logging in with all known passwords that I've ever used, none of them work, so I'm fairly certain I never registered it.
It shows up as taken at hellotext, but upon checking it's available.
And I apparently signed up for "multiply," though I don't know what the site is or what it does. But my username and password work, and my name shows up on the page. Huh.

It claims that 'box' is taken at gmail, but, in fact, gmail doesn't allow three-letter usernames.

i remember when i tried to register quantamon (with an u) on netscape.net, and it was taken, and i ended up sticking with the romanvm spelled nickname.
this was back when smeone would want to register at netscape.net. i don't even remember why i wanted it.

I'm not the real ColdChef. He's a user on MetaFilter, and when MetaChat opened, I got his nickname over here before he could. I've been posting and pretending to be him for years now. Occasionally, he'll send me an email and ask me to knock it off, but there's really nothing he can do about it.

I've been doing this for years now and no one's caught on yet that I'm not really him.

Hmm, I think there is a bug with this. Many of the sites that show "dg" as taken don't allow that as a username (too short - I know, because I've tried). I think the site is just checking if the name is available and, if not, saying "taken". Not really all that accurate, after all. Moderately cool, though.
