How can I increase text size? [More:]How can I increase text size on Windows Vista Explorer without also increasing the size of icons etc? So many websites come in fine print, or so it looks on this computer. (Others are fine). When I hit View - Text Size - Largest, nothing discernable happens, even when I highlight the text. When I change the resolution, the icons on my desktop get huge.
I found this on the web:

Right-Click the desktop. Select Select Personalize, Select "Adjust Font Size" (In Left Pane), Click button labeled Custom DPL, Make DPL greater than 100% by sliding the ruler or typing in the drop-down box.

If your main problem is with web-pages, press CTRL+ to increase text size and CTRL- to decrease it. This works incrementally (i.e. keep pressing CTRL+ and the text size increases, step by step). It works with both IE and Firefox.

P.S. The CTRL+ trick does not work with websites that use a fixed size font. Most sites use a variable size font, as it breaks the web design best practice guidelines not to do so. But some blogs and similar sites use a fixed size font as it allows them to control the "elegant" appearance and layout of the site. If you press CTRL+ repeatedly, images will be displaced etc. Some designers try to control for this by locking the font size.

Thanks guys. That CTRL + trick is awesome. No more eye strain!!! (as long as I refrain from staring while scrolling too fast up and down Metafilter...)
