Love to eat the turkey like a good boy should Happy Turkey Day to you all. Here's hoping that the joy of your gathering exceeds the pain of your traveling this Thanksgiving. I am getting up at four AM to travel tomorrow. That gathering has very high expectations, which I am sure it will meet.

This year, more than most years, our exercise in assessing our blessings and giving thanks for them will be more important than ever. When times are tough it is good to remember how many blessings we still have. (just keep repeating this and it will all be ok, just keep....oh I hope so)

A happy day to you, caddis, and hoping you're having a good trip.

For the third year in a row, I'm a guest at Thanksgiving instead of the chief cook. We're all pitching in, but bringing hors d'ouevres and greens and savory squash tartlet is a different proposition from being the one who gets up at dawn to wrestle with a chilled turkey, who spent yesterday cleaning and counting chairs, who coordinates everything all day today. I'm earnestly thankful for this rest.

I'm thankful for so much this year, as every year, and one of the many things I'm thankful for is this place, and all of you, who listen to each other's big and little triumphs and complaints; who shout each other's celebrations and whuffle your shaken comrades; who are more of a community than I've ever seen online.

I am the sole cook for Thanksgiving again, but this year it's just my boyfriend and me. I love this kind of structured cooking, and have a list of when to start what dish so everything is ready and hot at the same time.

I wish the best for every Mechazen, and love each and every one of you. There's more than enough food, everyone is invited over!
