If the bun ain't broke, don't fix it? →[More:]We got the bun to the vet this morning, only to have the doctor advise against having her fixed. He said the risk with an invasive surgery is higher than that of the bunny getting cancer. He's done rabbit hysterectomies before, but advised against it in Alice's case.
So, doc's got nothing in this but his fee. Also, he's willing to read up on anything we send him about the risk of rabbit ovarian cancer. "Bitey" seems to be going through a normal rabbit phase with the chewing and chomping so her aggression will eventually pass either way.
I don't want to put my bun in and unnecessary danger. What's the scoop? Where are the stats? Compared to the risk of surgery, what are the risks of cancer? I've heard breeding serves the same purpose, cancer-wise. Can breeding her once negate the risk all together?
