The Wizard of Oz is playing now on TBS (in the USA). I swear that one of the lollipop guild is Jonmc in disguise.
One of the Munchkins was a substitute teacher at my middle school in the late 70s. He was a hit with us 5th and 6th graders, because he was the first adult we'd ever been taller than. I remember he drove a big blue Chevy with the pedals moved up all along the bottom of the dashboard, where he could reach them.
I also remember the first words he ever said to us in class, "My name is Mr. Buresh. I know I am a novelty." And then he gave us a capsule review of working in "The Wizard Of Oz," which in those days was exotic to me because it was a movie I'd seen on TV since I was tiny, and that still kinda scared me.
He taught without the blackboard most of the time, because he couldn't reach it.
NPH talks with Cody Willard--who's the son of my family's vet--about being Toto as his first acting experience about a minute into the clip on this blog post. The annotations are pretty funny.
How they neglected to mention my stellar performance as the Cowardly Lion is beyond me. Fuckers.
