09 November 2008

I just ordered my first pair of reading glasses. Hopefully they won't look too ridiculous. And I'll be able to read the menu now.
Those will look so cute on you!

Welcome to Old People Land. It's cozy here, but feel free to complain about beng cold anyway.

I just got progressive bi-focals recently. It sucks to admit that you need reading glasses but they really do help.

We went to the drugstore this weekend to figure out what strength I needed. Everything they had either made me look like a bug or Sarah Palin. But damn if I couldn't read labels!

*screams loudly at jonmc: DIDDJA TAKE YA PILLS?*

OF COURSE I PAID THE BILLS! THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON AREN'T THEY?!

I'll be getting my first pair of bifocals in a few weeks. Whooh whooh.

Those are great frames. Mrs Slack is also in the market for new specs, but she's swore she won't get new ones until she can find some cool retro glasses (ala - cat specs) that don't cost hundreds of dollars for just the frames. Anywhere i look online seems to cater to people with way too much money. Any suggestions?

Oh, those are COOL, chewie!

My new glasses that I got over the summer are my first bifocals. *sigh* I can't read my MP3 player or cellphone with my sunglasses anymore.

Yeah, my lenses, like the rest of me, have lost their flexibility.

(Bookstores sometimes carry some cute reading glasses, too.)

I bought mine at Barns&noble. They have some nice frames there. Cheep too if the prescription fits.

find some cool retro glasses

I see lots of frames at antique and junk stores. One pare I bought ($12) actually fit the new lenses I got put in.

A couple weeks ago, I thought I needed to see an eye doctor. Instead, my blood pressure meds needed adjusting.

special-k that made me LOL!!

Ah yes, welcome to the club! I gave up on even trying to wear my contacts at the end of this summer and resigned myself to my funky bifocals forever. It seems totally unfair that when you start out with -8 level nearsightedness and then get old age farsighted, instead of balancing out, you can somehow manage to be simultaneously both nearsighted and farsighted - aka blind. Bah.

But those are cute frames and hey, you may find that like me, you kind of like wearing glasses every day now! Plus, reading menus - and bills, you don't want to hear about my insanely generous tip from a year or so ago when I was still pretending I could see - is a Good Thing.
