From my friend, musician Jon Goble
, who died last week. His funeral was today. It was, as funerals should be, sad and happy, but mostly sad because he was taken far too soon. I knew I should have worn waterproof mascara, because I cried and cried. Thank you, Irish Kevin, for your broad shoulder and comforting arm.
At the end when we went outside the chapel we were all given a balloon, either black or white, to represent the keys of a piano, and on a signal from Jon's 12-year-old son we released them into the sky.
