What have you dreamed of lately? [More:]
Last night I dreamed I had sex with J Mascis, and it was superhot.

The night before I dreamed I found out I was already five months pregnant. I hadn't noticed my belly changing but when I found out I felt it and noticed it felt almost hard.
*phew* Hot stuff.

I had the radio on all night, and they were playing old radio classics. My dreams were about animals acting out this stuff.

I had a dream about being back with the ex-husband. It was a very lonely dream. I haven't dreamed this particular dream for a long time, although I used to have them a lot when we first split up. Probably thinking of him because I'm trying to lose some weight, and I can hear his voice saying "I liked skinny twiggy better than fat twiggy" in my head.

Ugh, Twiggy, I'm sorry.

Through a very complicated long-distance affair I had about five years ago, I had a lot of dreams where I was being humiliated in front of the man I was in love with. They continued long after the relationship ended -- I felt haunted. But they did eventually stop.

I hate the feeling of carrying bad dream energy into the day. Sometimes it even carries over a few days, for me. Dreams can be very potently emotional.

A threesome involving Rahm Emanuel and my husband. (Well, you ASKED!)

I really need to stop being so obsessed with politics.

I dreamed I left my two year old someplace for a little while and then forgot about him. When I remembered I was desperate to get back to him but things kept getting in the way. It was awful. Then I heard his footsteps running down the hallway and woke up and felt so much better.

My dream last night was set in Manu national park many years into the future. My friends and I all secured faculty positions and were wallowing in start up money. We all decided to launch a long-term collaborative project in the Amazon and were there on a scouting trip. From there on it was a bad horror flick. We lost the boat, satellite phone broke, and we were being chased by all kinds of crazy things. It felt very much like LOST.

I hardly ever remember dreams, as I generally come up slowly from sleep, past the REM stage. But the other morning the alarm woke me as I was in the middle of a dream.

I was flying out of LaGuardia with Delta and they'd changed me to another airline - Liberty - and I couldn't find the check-in desk. I was running around in a panic and an airport worker, a Sikh in a turban, directed me to what he said was the right place, but it was a sort of indoor fabric market. Then the alarm went off and I woke up, panicking, my heart thumping and my breathing heavy.

I also rarely remember my dreams, usually only when I've woken up and then gone back to sleep, but I had a bad chest infection recently and had some doozies. Fever dreams where the pressure builds until something explodes, like a ball spinning on the head of a pin getting bigger and bigger and filling the mind-screen until it POPS and then grows again from a dot, and a whirly-bird roof extractor spinning faster and faster until the house to which it is attached gets sucked in. Yuck.

I've also had a kinda recurring dream where I chase my father, sister and nephew through a house with a network of cool secret passages, rooms and tunnels on the edge of a non-existent cliff overlooking Sydney Harbour - kinda recurring because there have been two different-but-similar (actually quite gorgeous) houses so far but it's essentially the same dream.

I've also had my standard recurring frustration dream recently, when I was sick, but I know it was because I was fretting about a training session that people had taken annual leave to attend that I was meant to co-facilitate but couldn't, and frustrated that my colleague doesn't have the confidence to facilitate alone - where I am loading a white van but everything I load falls out the other side, on and on ad nauseam. I hate this dream, I always wake up really cranky when I have it.

I've been dreaming about my father a lot and in all my dreams he's young and happy and laughing, which are three adjectives I never in my life applied to him before. Pity, because in my mother's things I just came across a photo of my father and me in a pool when I was probably about two or three and he was, actually, young and laughing.

I've also been dreaming about babies; the other night I dreamt I had another little girl with my first husband (?!!?) and named her Arabella. And then I've had my usual crop of sci fi movie dreams that could go directly onto the screen - I dream cinematic, with plots and special effects and swooning leading ladies and aliens with ray guns and impossible castles that the heroes improbably fight their way through. I love dreaming.

I knew I'd had a dream recently that I'd remembered, but it had gone back into the recesses of my mind. BUT! Later on this evening it came back.

I dreamed that I kept pulling up these long, tall weeds from my garden, and that they kept coming back up. And then I saw a bunch of long tubers at the base of the roots. My weeds were actually Jerusalem Artichokes (aka Sunchokes). That made me pretty happy, because those puppies are tasty! I smacked myself on the forehead in annoyance at myself, and then someone outside the frame told me that it's really OK, that they're just about as invasive as weeds.

So. Exciting.

I dreamt that I was renting two apartments at once, and the spare apartment was much larger than the one I was living in, but it was ugly and run-down. All my friends were hanging out in it, and I was upset because I didn't want them to, and I wanted to get rid of the apartment.

Ugh.

Desjardins, Rahm Emanuel is kinda easy on the eyes... ;)

I've been dreaming about my dad nearly every night for the past year or two. He passed away about 15 years ago.

And this is hard to explain, but there's this complicated interplay between his presence and absence . . . He's "there" but not really. He has to go somewhere and will be back soon. He's totally physically present, but seems mentally unaware of being in the present moment. That sort of thing.

In the dreams, I feel very friendly toward him -- much more so than I did in the last years of his life -- and it's really, really nice to be in his presence.

My dreams are usually weird, fragmented things. When I took a nap this afternoon, I dreamed I was standing on a hand-truck that was laid down on a side walk but propped up sideways against a little retaining wall with a green lawn above it. I stepped up towards the lawn, and the hand-truck fell down, which made me wake up with a start and run a cat off the bed.

I dreamt that I met my old copywriter teammate. We hooked arms and were about to march our way to a café to do some work, when he introduced me to a really tall pretty girl with braids and an insanely tall handsome man with similar braids. "You probably don't recognize them since they've grown so much" he said laughing as I craned my neck to look up at his 2 metres plus tall children whom I haven't seen since 2001 (when they were 2 and 5 years old).

(the weirdest thing was that the girl started crying and pouting as we were going to work and she did not like that. She disliked me for a while when she was around 4 years old but that was probably because I had black and white hair like Cruella Devil at the time, now there's a two metres tall woman crying like a baby as we try to walk off. weird feeling.)

I had a dream recently that one of my sons and I were waiting for my husband. We were in some sort of old-fashioned pharmacy, but my husband was sending a money order to someone. While waiting, we were sitting in a kind of waiting room, and I found money on the table next to me I remember it was a couple of $50s and several $20s. I snatched it up so quickly that someone near me looked up from his magazine. But then I felt bad, what it someone really needed this money? So I went to the counter and turned it in. They got really excited because an elderly man had just been looking for it, and they ran to catch him. So I felt pretty good.

Losieau, I know what you mean exactly about bad dreams giving you bad feelings that you carry with you. I had another dream just the other day where I was having bad feelings about Mr. V. I was upset in the dream with him, woke up to being cross with him (poor guy, he had no idea), and was pretty much a bitch until I told him about the dream. Once he understood, and once I could verbalize it, we both felt much better.
