Up and at 'em! This is a thread to encourage productivity.→[More:]I've been lying in bed for 2 hours. I pledge to jump in the shower, wash the dishes, and finish making my felt bag by noon. What about you? GO!
I need to proof-read my résumé and send it out to multiple companies and recruiters today. Hopefully someone will want to hire this very nice QA developer. I hate the whole process of job search/interviewing/negotiation, bleh. My old team is getting together at a brew-pub tonight to network/commiserate.
- fix a lot of updates so that I can see what modules are missing and what I need to write from scratch so that I can have a list ready on Monday
- Henna my hair (a recent henna-thread renewed my interest, I'm going redder/more orangy than I normally am, yeay)
- Try and clean my office
I have to put together a 45 minute job talk for an interview in two weeks. Then I have to review about 24 grant proposals (reviews are due Monday). I also have to write another section for a manuscript which is due at the end of the month. Busy weekend!
Well, I'll probably just sit around until I have to go to work for 12 hours...I hate working at an extremely popular pizza place in a big college football town. At least it's the last home game.
7:15 am - took dog to park
8:00 am - yoga class
9:00 am - picked up paper, salad, sodas, perscription
9:15 am - read paper, ate salad
10:00 am - started new load of laundry, vacuumed, executed basic kitchen clean up tasks.
Ok, it was an admittedly half-assed vacuuming job. I am now flagging. Hard. It's a warm sunny fall day and I should go to a festival or find something to do, but. . .I get credits, yeah? I can 'lax now? I put in three - four hours of productivity. I. . .I. . .
Oh man, I have such a long list of chores. Going to the farmers' market as soon as the coffee is finished brewing and this comment is typed and the clothes, they are on me. And after that: Blow a tree's worth of leaves off of the front lawn, then rake into a big pile in the street; clean kitchen; winterize the chicken coop; attach a new door sweep to the back door; winterize the bedroom window (which involves stuffing newspaper into the gap where it doesn't meet the frame); move some firewood into the garage; climb onto the roof to see how/where the rat-proofing failed.
The good news is that I have a list, I got up early, and I had every intention of getting all these things done. The bad news is that I just found out that the Texas/Baylor game is actually being broadcast here on an FSN alternate, starting in about 15 minutes. So, we'll see.
I was mostly a lump today. I didn't sweep and water in the courtyard and entrance; I didn't wash clothes; I didn't do serious food shopping, or sort out the summer and winter clothes. I did wash dishes; we did go for a walk with Sky and buy green beans for fasoulakia; we did prepare fasoulakia (many recipes out there, all different; ours is more like this, but this looks great). We did buy alcoholic beverages to wile away our lumpen afternoon, and are drinking them. I am now cooking dog food.
Productivity! I'll finish eating this leftover tortellini, then I'll burn a CD to play in the car (getting a little bored of the Tussle/Albert Ayler/William Parker Quartet/Bahamadia mp3 disc that's in there now, plus I just interlibrary-loaned the Brotzmann Chicago Octet/Tentet box), then I'll go to the thrift store, and the coffee shop, and maybe the liquor store. Then I'll go to one of the other library branches, where they're doing a Sega Genesis program (hoping somebody owns a multitap and Mega Bomberman, NBA Jam, maybe an NHL game, but, y'know, I just like to play). Productive!
1. clean the kitchen (30 min tops)
2. clean the litterboxes (15 min)
3. shift all my auto-bill-payments to my new bank account (no idea)
4. get a belt for the vacuum cleaner (1 hr incl travel)
5. Do at least one load of laundry (1.5 hr)
*phew* Ok, got the grass cut, got the kids to dad, got the money to the bank.
*scrolls up*
Yup, got the kat fud and other stuff. (yay, I remembered!)
So, maybe I can party later, maybe not. They're tailgating down by the stadium, but I get the kids back at two, so any partying might be limited to dropping by and saying hi.
I will not be a slacker. I will not be a slacker. I will not be a slacker.
What needs to get done:
--emailing this Powerpoint to my partner so he can see what I'm doing, oh yeah, and getting his info so I can put it together.
--emailing dude my citations in APA so he can put together the handout.
--quit freaking out about said presentation because there's not much I can do about it at this point in time.
--reading for last week's class that I completely forgot about and didn't do.
--reading for THIS WEEK's class that I haven't done yet.
--order birthday present for homie.
--pick out christmas presents for peeps.
--posts for embodiment
--email peeps for inaugural ball tickets
--and a bunch of other shit.
Shakespeare paper! Shakespeare paper! If I put my shoulder to the wheel today and tomorrow, I can get it done early, then turn all my energy to my foodways paper!
Also: do the last few dishes, make a simple dinner, and make time to watch Sympathy for Lady Vengeance with The Fella tonight --- it's a rare Saturday night together, so I want to enjoy it. If I get enough done today, I can enjoy in.
OK, I'm back. Lessee....what did I say I'd do? Shower? Check, but I'm sweaty from running around. Dishes? Check! Felt bag? CHECK! That last took longer than I thought it would. All I had left was to make some decorations and sew them on, but I had a few false starts.
Also: Made cream of pumpkin soup: canned pumpkin, garlic, stock, curry, pepper, turmeric, maple syrup, smoked black salt and half and half. Crostini to put on top. It's super yummy.
I read 2 chapters and changed a password to one of my accounts. Do two naps before noon count? I was up by 6 am. Now I'm motivating to start constructing subject headings for my cataloging class. I don't like it one little bit.
Dinner and drinks with colleagues tonight. One of our little triumvirate made it out into a real librarian job and is leaving us in Circulation HELL.
Feeling somewhat less like ass, so will for sure for sure for sure make xmas cake today. Right after this comment. Fed everyone breakfast (at noon, but fuck it, it's Saturday). Showered. (I can seriously count that as an accomplishment? Yay!) Was going to go grocery shopping but that ain't gonna happen (see BOP, above, and imagine him rocking out in the middle of Publix, after parking the car in a telephone pole), which is fine--we're okay until tomorrow, and it's made for a pretty fun morning. Besides, apparently it's a Really Important Day in SEC football today, and there ain't no messing with that. Making this for dinner, but because it's not nearly bad enough for you, I'm going to add cheese to the white sauce. On the other hand, I'll be using buttermilk & evap for the smashed potatoes instead of a whole cup of freakin' heavy cream, so there's that. (Trust me--evap + buttermilk = mashed potato heaven.)
Then again, maybe I'll just go drink beer with Pips and bitch about all the damned kids on the damned lawn. Yep. Think I'll do that.
Also, shared with you this ode to evaporated milk, which I learned at my Daddy's knee:
Carnation Milk, the best in the land
I have a can right here in my hand
No tits to pull, no shit to pitch
Just poke a hole in the sonofabitch.
I got up early and went to the chiropractor, since I messed up my back climbing 347 flights of stairs for the office challenge during the week. Stopped by the grocery store on the way home, but didn't have a list and so will have to go back tomorrow. All I have left that must get done today is picking up my prescriptions by six when the pharmacy closes, but I just had two beers and will now have to goof off for an hour or so until I feel safe to drive. I could walk there as it is a lovely day and it's a ten minute walk. That would be productive and healthy.
i've gotten so much done i'm shocked i'm not more sore (except my stomach which is over Tumtatumtum TUMs) just in what i've gotten rid of, cleaned up, loaded, sent out and served, not to mention anything else.
Divshare's gone all poops on uploads, and my local sewer system is moving two gps trackers and a bluetoothie to the cesspit where the "followers" belong.Hehahehahehaheheheheh.
