Have any of y'all been reading The Daily Beast, Tina Brown's website/zine/blog? If so, what do you think of it?[More:]

I've been enjoying the "Cheat Sheet," which links 10 articles from other sites, with a little capsule summary of each one. The original articles have been hit or miss, and the "Buzz Board" is a waste of time, to me. Overall, though, I like the site for a quick stop when I'm reading in over breakfast.

I just hope it doesn't get overloaded with celeb and entertainment "news" once the election is over (because it already has a lot of that, and I wish they'd get rid of it).
I've been giving it a chance, because Tina Brown has figured so prominently at magazines that have shaped my reading habits.
So far, I can't say anything really. I've found a few pieces to be ignorantly inflammatory. Nothing seems to be that well written (with a few exceptions, I can't think right now, I am still taking my morning coffee).
BoPo, you hit the nail on the head, celeb and entertainment news will probably prevail once the election cycle has died down. Remember Talk magazine? Tina does have a soft spot for it. I rather quite like it, anyway. It's would be a step up from TMZ and OnNoTheyDidn't.

I don't know why Tina Brown is, but I've heard that Laura Bennett has a column on "The Daily Beast". I pretty much think Ms. Bennett is the bee's knees.

I thought it was basically a roundup of other stuff that's already on the web.

I haven't been following it... my RSS list needs pruning as it is...

Remember Talk magazine?

I do remember Talk magazine. I subscribed and liked it, while it lasted. This is the first time I've seen The Daily Beast. I'll give it a whirl.

From what I read in the metafilter post I was rather intrigued but then her appearance on the Colbert Report was so incredibly annoying that I can't bring myself to read it anymore. It was the most brainless insincere sales pitch imaginable. And she came across as a pushy humorless person.
Maybe I'll end up on the site later when my repulsion for her person has died down.

i kinda like it, but i am biased cause they were smart enough to get nick ciarelli to write for them.... he's previously the teen wunderkind behind thinksecret.com, the apple rumors site which was legendary in its day for keeping apple on their toes. (full disclosure: i designed the site, but had nothing to do with its operation, despite apple's attempt to subpoena me.)
