Continuing the Friday night music posts here's a band with a message: The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy.[More:] Michael Franti and Rono Tse and a socio-political message. Franti is currently Spearhead and is still spreading truth. If they only sound kind of familiar, you may remember the popular (and still vitally relevant) song "Television, the Drug of the Nation" (breeding ignorance and feeding radiation). Previous link goes directly to the song (click 'Download original'), and this is the link to download the whole album "Hypocrisy Is the Greatest Luxury."

Bonus yootoob linx.
Television, the Drug of the Nation
Language of Violence

More bonus:
Gil Scott-Heron, "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised"
Spearhead "Rock The Nation"
Makes me think of the one or two half decent Consolidated songs i know.

You know, I was looking for a decent Consolidated link to put in there, but couldn't really find one. They always reminded me of Crass for the 90's.

If i load up, i'll put it here.

I'll look for it.

Anyone: btw, one of the songs of the DHoH, The Winter Of The Long Hot Summer, was written about Gulf War One. If you're not counting, this is #2, and the lyrics are still completely appropriate. Unfortunately.

Bill Hicks also had an eerie timeliness.
Fuck, there isn't much decade old commentary that doesn't still apply with pointed detail.

Because no progress has been made.
Same names, slightly different details.

The cover of "California Über Alles" on their (only?) album is fantastic.

My copy is at home, and I am not, sorry :-(

Don't worry. We know you've gone all German with the umlauts and the punishment. My diminishing buzz thinks it doesn't hold up anyway.
Krautballs.

Jeez, fine, here's a pretty good live version. More laid-back than the album version.

Was it the krautballs?
