I like the mystery that's created by the glimpse of someone in the side view mirror.

All I could think of was this:

"Hiiiiighhhhhwaaaay to HELLLLLLLLLLL....."

where was this?

That looks like less of a small fire and more like a "holy shit, get the fuck out!" fire.

I took it today in Concord, CA. I didn't bother cropping it, so I'm visible in the side mirror.

When I saw it, I thought "no, it can't be that Concord . . . though it looks so familiar." When I first moved the Bay Area, I lived in Concord for about six months . . .

Concord aside, it's a really compelling photo -- that sort of surrealism that's hyper-real at the same time, and makes us aware of what an odd place and time we live in -- thanks for sharing.

(BTW, looking over what I've just written, I just realized that Concord is generally pronounced something close to Conquered -- but maybe that's just my sleepy self free associating . . . anyhow, that pronunciation also seems to have some resonance with your photo).

Cool. I once came across a random fire while driving from Longreach to Emerald. It was way out in the middle of nowhere - just a circle of fire in the long grass beside the road. I would have got my phone out and taken a photo but I was driving at something like 140kph and felt that was a tad irresponsible.
