Halloween Costumes! My kids have both decided to be mummies! Yeah! That's easy!

My little kid "MUST" come to school dressed as a nursery rhyme character on the 23rd. He will be a spider from Little Miss Muffet.

Are you dressing up this year? I might put on a witch hat and fake eyelashes to pass out candy. What kind of costume is that? I'll call it a good witch.
Oops. I'm all on the front page. I feel vulnerable.

I bought this costume- mine is not nearly as tight as the one in the picture, which is fine by me. I'll put on my boots and a boatload of fake eyelahses and be a sassy prisoner!

Last year I dressed completely normal except for enormous purple eyelashes and giant fairy wings. When the kids asked what I was supposed to be, I acted perplexed. "What are you talking about? I was born this way!"

The girl is going to be a unicorn. I was a little taken aback by the girliness of her request, until she suggested that the boy go as a griffin. She's such a mythical-creature-lovin' nerd.

You are gonna look hot in that, TPS!

I know! I'm excited ;-) We're marching in the parade this year, so I wanted to look FIERCE!

What's Stynx going as? Your warden? A jug of Pruno?

*wonders why the "moustache ride" dialogue from Super Troopers is now stuck in her head...*

A co-worker has almost convinced me to go as "Server Girl". It's tempting, even though server work is only about 10 percent of my job now.

My idea: Long black cape, lightweight. Tank or spaghetti-strap glitter black top. Black pants. Co-worker's girlfreind says heeled boots, but I don't know if I can carry that off.

If I don't do that, I'll go goth. It had a smashing effect last year.

I like to dress up at work, but I have to wear a long white coat, and I've done the doctor thing to death already. Since I work with butchers, one year I wore a "knife" through my head. This year I only have a headband with horns, and a pin-on tail.

In my five minutes of having to rush into the local Meglomart, i saw this costume stuff for kids that say "pimp" and "fetish."
Do these people have any idea what these words mean?

Still, part of me wants to go back and pick up some fun Halloween stuff.
i don't know what i want to be yet when i grow up for Halloween but i might make a stab at "evil" on video tonight even if i don't make the headline.
Would anyone want to see what i come up with? Or maybe help? Anyone got the space and means to clip clips together or throw on musical accompaniment?
No instrument handy or space to cobble it myself *sigh*… little help?

I would like to see what you come up with, ethylene. I'm afraid that I'm no help when it comes to doing anything technical, though.

TPS, I like your sexy jailbird costume. If I ever wore a sexy costume it would be sexy dirndl girl. The hat is a must.

For some reason I end up picking really frumpy costumes and then feel ugly next to the sexy prisoner/witch/dirndl girls out there. Halloween brings out body image issues.

I'm going as Little Bo Peep and the Boy is going as a Wolf in Sheep's clothing.

I'm going as Mrs Lovett. In specific, thisdress.
I don't have the figure for sexy fill-in-the-blank costume, but I do have the figure for a floor length skirt, corset, and low cut top. and I figure at the very least I can wear the separate pieces to goth clubs in the future so it's not a totally one-shot deal.

A corset that fit would make life so much easier.

One person is having a party with a rock star theme, live, dead, or other, and i can't help but think there's just gonna be a lot of black, jeans and leather.
Evil Inuit or Security Guard Sloth would need a lot of adjusting.

So do it up this year! Sexy soccer mom? Sexy skull fairy? OMG, sexy Care Bear? There is nothing the people who make Halloween costumes cannot sexify.

But people respect costumes that don't hinge on sexy, and you can be anything so it's not even your body image when you dress up big time. Although being the realistic gigantic buckyball is harder to sit and maneuver in, but you get props for that, too.

Last year, I didn't dress up, but I did march in the parade with the NY Jedi, holding up a banner about eight-feet tall for the entire walk. And the pole was made of metal. I carried that friggin' thing upright in the wind for the entire parade route.

And then after, I drank with the Jedi! And then went home with one of them. Who "serenaded" me with poetry upon our parting. It was very sweet.

No, that is a lie! You can think up this witty, clever costume, and all you get is blank looks from people who don't get it. I'm done being clever!

Play to your audience, fine, but maybe you need to take that witty ensemble around people at parties who get it with mad respect.
We all know the cleavage is for "the ladies" who truly appreciate it.
If you wanna do, do it right.

YOU WORK IT.
YOU MAKE IT WORK.
AND, HONEY, YOU GET PAID.
