Your Latest Rejection? [More:] I was just now rejected for giving blood. I was so nervous about my blood pressure and vitals (fine), that my pulse was too high. I feel like such a failure.
Huh, I didn't know you could get rejected for having a pulse that's too fast. Mine hovers around 120 when confronted with anything vaguely medical and especially when confronted with needles. Good to know. I was thinking about donating blood as therapy.

I rejected a guy in my apartment complex who was puppydogging me for a date. "I'm really socially overextended for the forseeable future and I don't really have any hang-out time that isn't already allocated." I feel bad but not horrible. And, well, it's true.

Yup, me too Fuzzbean, and mine read 116 and after a wait, 117. I was out. I did get to take a juice and a snack anyway. Strangely, I don't mind needles, just the medical tests that I can't study for. And I totally have a normal resting pulse, but I guess they can't know that, or, maybe you gooosh blood too fast if you are pumping too fast? I dunno. I just feel real bad.

This yahoo answer gives a pretty sensible reason - if your heartrate is already elevated when you start donating, it's only going to get worse once you start draining blood!

There is an increased danger of shock if the blood is pumped too fast, but that's probably a secondary reason. I know that MuddDude has problems with donating too fast (not because of his heart rate, but because he's got enormous, high-pressure veins in his arms) and has gone into shock once (that was scary, let me tell you).

I can't give blood ever ... the only two times I tried it, I got dizzy and deathly white halfway through, and they had to pull the plug. Just don't have enough blood I guess.

Not sure yet if cute guy is rejecting me. He seemed to in the long talk we had the other day, but then flirts with me again today, so I don't know what's happening. I don't think he knows either. I hate being human.

Two more rejection letters in the mail yesterday. One for a job for which I didn't get to interview, the other a job for which I interviewed very well, was completely qualified, would've fit into easily, etc. Bleh.

I just applied for an assistant position at a local museum.

In my cover letter, I told them that I wasn't looking for "new challenges" or "a change of pace", I was looking for a job that didn't involve dealing with lawyers, because I was sick of them.

No response so far.

My stomach is rejecting the idea of most things. No barfing yet, though. Wish me luck.

Many rejections in my fundraising for this half-marathon. Can't take it personally, though, with the craptastic economy and what-not.

Fuzzbean! Did you actually use this quote on the guy?

The best follow-up to that would have been to open a Filofax or Dayplanner and doublecheck.

"Yep, yep, totally-overextended. Everything completely allocated. Yep."

"I would like to pursue to furtherance of this issue with you, but what it is, is, I feel at the end of the day the return on investment just doesn't justify the time/cost impacts of possibly turning that corner even if in doing so we could positively impact your self-assessment rubric. That being said, impact?"
