PeoplePC, a cut-rate ISP, are giving a relative a hard time canceling their account. Anyone have advice or experience?[More:]I've googled and found a bunch of info, but I wonder if anyone here has a secret weapon up their sleeves that will do the job cleanly. Any advice appreciated. Thanks. Maybe I should try this over on askme too.
I don't have direct experience with that company, but Vonage gave me a hard time when I tried to cancel. I finally told them I was moving to a rural area with no electricity. The lady laughed and said OK, I give up.

Yeah, put your request in writing and send it certified mail. No more screwing around with phone agents.

I had a free-ish AOL account when I first moved to NY before getting DSL and when it came time for me to quit using it, I had to scream at the customer service lady, telling her, "Listen, I only got the free AOL cd to get service until I could get my DSL working, and now that I've got DSL, why the hell would I want to continue with dial-up?"

Mention your cousin, the state attorney general.
