Shameless iTunes Post - New Genius Feature! →[More:]

Okay, so -

iTunes has this new feature with the iTunes 8 release entitled Genius, wherein it arranges entire playlists for you based on one particular chosen song. It also hacks into the iTunes store library and gives you recommendations based on the song you chose.

Think of the Party Shuffle feature on steroids.

I have been entranced with this gizmo since downloading it yesterday and am really eager to hear what we all come up with for setlists on it.

Sounds like they've integrated MusicIP Mixer or something similar... it's a very cool tool, and a basic version of it has been embedded in WinAmp for awhile now. It's great for pulling up random tracks that might fit thge mix you are making.

Requires iTunes store account, which requires registering a credit card, which I don't have, but they don't tell you that until the very end. *sigh*

I've had a quick try with this, but counldn't find the playlist button... My opinion so far: not as well done as the Amarok/Last.fm setup I've used before - and yes, the iTMS integration annoys the crap out of me.

If I set up a proper itunes server in the house, this might be really good, but at present, I don't listen to music the way itunes would like me to...

hehe.... so I've just had a go with the playlist generator. iTunes suggests that the song to follow the Saint's seminal punk outing 'Stranded', is, erm, well... the song that killed Frente: 'Accidentally Kelly Street'.

If you know these songs, you'll know why I'm tickled...
