Obvious Dream Symbolism [More:]

Last night my Feminist Theory Professor from grad school visited me in my dreams to scold me for being such a "diaper."

Also last night, I actually felt fat in my dream.

Easy analysis: I'm fat and I'm letting myself be shit on.

Thanks for stopping by, Jane.

I'm going to the gym now.

Share some of your obvious dreams, if you're so inclined.
I have the most boring dreams ever. I don't even get symbolism.

It's way too noisy at work. I dreamt that they'd put up a barrier between us people who need to concentrate hard on complicated abstract things, and the people who need to jabber into their phones all day. It was then a lot quieter, more pleasant and I was able to get a lot more done.

I felt really depressed when I woke up and it was just a dream.

When I was taking my Solicitors' Final Exams I had a dream about walking into the class naked and everyone else was fully-clothed.

When I woke up I was so cross with myself that I had such a classic anxiety dream. Couldn't my subconscious have come up with something a little less clichéd?

Jan, that's really funny. I wish I could remember the details to share, but I've had the same feeling.

At one point, a few years back, I was having dreams about going to work, similar to Theophile. Nothing unique or different, rather, just a day at work. I remember feeling annoyed, cos when it came time to count my years service for retirement, all those night shifts wouldn't be counted!

Before I got married, I had a dream that I was on the boat to the island on my way to the wedding, and my wedding dress was in a suitcase that fell overboard. I jumped in after it, and it dragged me to the bottom of the ocean. Quite accurate, but I paid no attention.

A few weeks ago I had a dream that I was renewing my vows or getting married for the first time, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure I was renewing my vows.

The wedding was to be held in a center courtyard of a hotel. The hotel was made of limestone and had white fountains, lattice, and lush plants hanging off balconies. There were also white concrete tables and benches where the guests would sit.

The morning of the wedding I was rushing around like a lunatic. I could not find wedding shoes. I failed to buy them. I was looking for appropriate shoes to wear but nothing matched. I finally settled on brown flip-flops. I had nothing to wear to the hotel, so I put on a very bulky, over sized mauve long-sleeved sweater that I tucked into a gray long straight skirt that came to my ankles.

I had also planned on making all of the food for the wedding. I had planned on making Martha Stewart finger sandwiches and other finger food. I didn't make any of the food and was panicking. I had nothing to feed my guests! I reasoned that I would stop by Sam's Club on the way so I could buy frozen mini quiches. The dream ended at this point. I have no idea of the symbolism other than forgetfulness and poor planning. What else? I don't know.

I once had a dream that involved a talking skunk -- that had my (cheating, lying, narcissistic) ex-boyfriend's voice.

I had a similar reaction to EssexJan's; it was like, "Oh, c'mon, you didn't think I would have understood something more subtle? Thanks."

I also once had a dream that I was driving a car with my family in it, but even though my hands stayed on the steering wheel, I kept floating outside the car and couldn't see where I was going, but no one in the car seemed to notice. I told this one to my therapist at the time, and she said something like, "So, what does that mean to you?" and I was just like, "Duh. Feeling out of control and in need of help but no one notices, maybe? Just maybe?"

One night, when I was still living with my ex, I had an extremely vivid dream. That morning, right after waking up, I started telling her about it. In this dream, she kept trying to steal my guitar.

The literal—I'm a musician—and *ahem* non-literal symbolism is pretty obvious with even a little bit of thought. Needless to say, I should've woken up a bit more before opening my mouth.
