My father is from NYC, my mother was born in Italy but raised in Vermont. Consider me your liaison.

I need my fix of city people watching. I've only been in VT a few years, after hanging around Portland for a dozen years or so. I'm still in withdrawal, or deprivation, depending on how I'm looking at things that day.

A few of the pics look to have been taken at a pride parade. Safe to say those are costumes.
Otherwise, though... what you call a costume they just think of as clothes. Anything can be seen as a costume of some kind.

kelley, there's a dude who comes into my store very couple of days dressed (no matter what the weather) in a tri-corner hat, a wool shin-legth coat and brreches. We call him 'the Pirate.' Others we see differ from him only in degree. NYC is a city, not a stage, I wanna tell these people.
