Sweet pictures of Brits in American-inspired costumes [More:]While these are apparently a commentary on "the fascination that the British public has with American popular culture and the sub-cultural world of fandom" and "a political reference to globalisation and America's ongoing ability to infiltrate all cultures via various channels of media," it's almost more fun to appreciate the cutely surreal images. Via Fark, of all places.
Chewbacca in the kitchen. I'd love to have that hanging on the wall of my kitchen.

Some pictures I liked in "Land of the Free" (in order viewed):

1st row 3rd column: she totally pulls that costume off
2nd row 1st column: ah, the mundane life of a storm trooper
2nd row 5th column: he'd be perfect on deadwood
5th row 2nd column: I loved the Turtles as a kid, but not this much
6th row 1st column: the lighting is strong in this one

I saw this on the filter. I like them. It's a reminder that (like the rest of the world), we're obsessed with the U.S., and I think it says something about quiet British eccentricism.

On a related note: I saw some Larpers in meanwood valley today. I'm not exactly sure why, but I was very happy to see them. I tried snarking about them with my friend, but it felt wrong.
