ooooOOOoooo shiny! [More:]

the #1 apple store app sale/download:

Koi Pond

Forum discussion.

damn. now I'm going to have a really hard time being virtuous and waiting until my Verizon contract runs out in October...

hmm. this app also works with the iT...
That would make an awesome coffee table or floor.

That is fucking awesome.

Seconding the coffee table. I wouldn't pay to have this on my phone, but I think it would be a cool virtual surface for a coffee table. Whenever you put something on the table, it's like dropping a rock or a log in the water, and all the fish scatter, and the longer you leave it there, the more algae and whatnot grow on it for the fishies to feed on.

Who wants to teach me enough electronics where I could build this thing?

heh. it also appears that after this youtube was shot, the developers released a little update that allows you to:

- "feed" the fish
- move the plants around by pinching/grabbing them
- if you leave your finger in one spot the fish will now come up and "nibble" at them.

this was what really blew my mind tho: the developer even commented on one of the boards that they've been in discussion with apple on the "nibble" feature. Seems they wanted to make the "nibble" tactile, but the vibrate feature of the phone wasn't... oh, hell, what's the word I'm looking for? the phone's current "vibe" feature is way too strong and disruptive and cant be turned down - however he said he's apparently working with apple about a way to make the vibe more sensitive so that only a little 'nudge' would be felt, making it much more realistic.

this world has come a long way from the old black Ohio Bell rotary phone my mom rented from the telco, is all I can say.

on preview: Eide, dude, it's a fucking DOLLAR. actually, no, it's $0.99, my bad. I dunno about you but I prolly lose more than that down the sofa cushions every week.

hmm... and also on review, it appears that the most persistent rumour being bandied about for this next (9th September) product release = native GPS capabilities (i.e. non-wifi-dependent) on the iTouch.

must. not. spend. money. must. not. spend. money. damn you Jobs!

I would like a phone with Iphone capabilities, but the monthly cost of the information parts are a deterrent for me. I imagine I'd use it if I had it though, especially with the gps ability.

Oh, and that koi thing is cool.

eek the iPhone isn't what's getting gps, that already HAS gps via a combo of G3 and a rudimentary satellite capture system.

it's the iTouch they're talking about putting a gps chip into (this is their non-phone, wifi-enabled flash memory touchscreen iPod)

which is splendiforous if it turns out to be true because if they do this, it means I'll just keep my perfectly fine razr and get an iTouch. no contract, no hassle, and since they've also discussed keeping the price point of the iTouch the same - a couple bills for the hardware and bobs yer uncle.

hmmm. then that sounds good to me, lfr. I'm getting to be old, and I'll need my nieces and nephews to translate technology for me. If they do get the gps in the iTouch, then yah, bob is indeed my uncle.
