s l o w i n g . . d o w n . . They say that the server used to host metachat.org is experiencing some problems. If you're having trouble getting here, then apologies. It should all be sorted out soon.
I thought it was just the internets at work being fucked (we lost access to our catalog for a bit too.)

Yeah, I've been getting server-not-found errors for the last couple of hours, but now that I've been able to connect it seems to be fine.

(Similar thing happens to me with a site I run when temp files pile up so much it maxes my storage space. I'm not sure why the temp files do that but once they're deleted it's fine.)

That wasn't slow, that was dead.

Sorted?

nope. Looks like it's metachat that's killing the whole server. Eek. Now where's that mysql optimization for dummies book.

We have finally conquered the world! Or at least the server! Woo hoo!

That was horrible.
i was barely dealing with the possible corpse of muxtape.

Stop playing with my emotions.

ah, so that's what it was. I watched it KE-RASH. Very pretty. It looked like mysql-query-threads were eating up all the available memory. poor machine.

Is it working now?

slowly - but it appears to do something.
sigh - I want my bed.

I assumed it was on my end. Our router is slowly giving up the ghost, we've been rebooting every couple HOURS for the last week.
I suspect the neighbors, who are working on their roof, may have nicked the cable tossing old shingles down three stories in a driveway-width space, too.
