He says toh-May-toh, she says toh-Mah-toh I’m editing an accident benefits court case in which the Insured testified that, prior to his accident, he did 60% of the housework while his spouse did 40%. His wife testified that, prior to her husband's accident, he had done 40% of the housework while she did 60%.

I'm picturing the backstory for that one and laughing.
Geez. Can they split some atoms?

What really amuses me about this case is that the couple needed to present credible evidence and testimony about the impact of the man's injuries on his quality of life in order to qualify for appropriate further benefits. Yet even when their financial well-being was at stake, they couldn't agree on how much housework they had each done.

Oh man, get your story straight before you testify.

The arbitrator actually didn't comment on the discrepancy, and just said he found both the Insured and his wife "credible". Heh. At least we can be sure they're both testifying as to what they honestly believe. They're probably both entirely convinced they did more than their share of the housework.

The arbitrator is a wise (and probably married) person.

(Orange Swan, do you work for a legal publisher? My sorta fantasy is moving up to the woods in Mendo County and telecommuting for some legal publishing place. Can't decide if that would make me very happy or bats.)

(Actually, sounds like you work for a judge or court, never mind, ducks & slinks.)

You were correct the first time, Claudia_SF, I do work for a legal publisher and have for the last 12 years (two different companies).
