OMFG Wire is playing Atlanta in October!!!
I'm just going to do a happy dance all over my cubicle - don't mind me
WOW!

When I was at Variety Playhouse the other day I saw that Stereolab and Mogwai are both playing there in September... it's going to be a busy fall! :)

I saw those two shows on the Variety Playhouse calendar as well, but if I had to choose one, it'd be Wire. Although Stereolab is awfully tempting...

Yeah, I haven't bought my tickets yet, but Mogwai may go by the wayside. Even though the venue is just about in my neighborhood, three concerts in a month may be a bit much. (God I'm old.)

So I don't have the new Wire album yet... have you heard it? The reviews are good.

It's pretty darn good, kind of a grab bag stylistically. Each song sounds different, like it could have come from a different era/phase of the band. There's no mistaking it for anything else - it definitely sounds like a Wire record.

Cool. What's anyone's fave CD? the Ideal Copy, maybe A Bell is a Cup, or the old punk stuff off Pink Flag?

*hums "...the King of Ur and the Queen of Um..." to self*

I should have my copy of the new one by this weekend...

Picking a favorited Wire album is tough, Shane! :) They're all so different. Pink Flag was the one that made me a fan, but I listen to 154 and Chairs Missing more nowadays than any of the others. They're almost like one big double album, to me.

I've been known to get "Eardrum Buzz" stuck in my head for days at a time.

I think it's The Ideal Copy for me. I remember hearing the four notes that open "Ahead" and getting chills. I had no idea who they were at the time, but I quickly grabbed what I could.

I've seen them twice: right after they reunited and when "Read and Burn" came out.
The newer version of "Advantage in Height" totally smoked and I was surprised The Showbox was full both times.

I've been trying to grab the new album digitally, but they're not selling it on iTunes. Anyone know where to get it?

They're selling it through their website, it looks like. MP3 and FLAC, same price. Looks a bit pricey, though - £7.99 ($15.62)
