Yeah, I haven't bought my tickets yet, but Mogwai may go by the wayside. Even though the venue is just about in my neighborhood, three concerts in a month may be a bit much. (God I'm old.)
It's pretty darn good, kind of a grab bag stylistically. Each song sounds different, like it could have come from a different era/phase of the band. There's no mistaking it for anything else - it definitely sounds like a Wire record.
I should have my copy of the new one by this weekend...
Picking a favorited Wire album is tough, Shane! :) They're all so different. Pink Flag was the one that made me a fan, but I listen to 154 and Chairs Missing more nowadays than any of the others. They're almost like one big double album, to me.
I think it's The Ideal Copy for me. I remember hearing the four notes that open "Ahead" and getting chills. I had no idea who they were at the time, but I quickly grabbed what I could.
I've seen them twice: right after they reunited and when "Read and Burn" came out.
The newer version of "Advantage in Height" totally smoked and I was surprised The Showbox was full both times.
I've been trying to grab the new album digitally, but they're not selling it on iTunes. Anyone know where to get it?
