There goes the neighborhood! [More:]I read an article yesterday on Radar Magazine's website (portions potentially NSFW) about Genesis P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle/Psychic TV) and his relationship with the late Jacqueline Breyer. Toward the end of the article was this little tidbit:

Jaye's spirit has contacted him several times, he says, via the usual paranormal routes: pictures flying off walls, strange vibrations. (He notes that a few friends have witnessed these events as well.) Jaye has let him know she's waiting for him, but Gen has decided to stick around for now. Time in the other place moves at a different speed, he says. She'll be patient. In the meantime, she's instructed him to move to Asheville, North Carolina (a place neither one of them ever visited), and build a compound with some friends. The Queens house is on the market.

I'm not sure whether to be excited or scared.
or "here comes the neighborhood."

That is so cool! If you see Peter Christopherson coming by to visit him I'm going to be insanely jealous.

You've posted this while I'm right in the middle of reading this book. Which is also cool/weird.

Not another one. Do you realize that not only has someone come in this museum looking for healing crystals and mentioned that she visited here as a tourist and then was sitting there at the Laughing Seed (or the drum circle or some other hippie Asheville place, fucking Jubilee maybe) and a deep spiritual voice told her to move to Asheville but that this has happened more than once and more than twice and in fact so many goddamn times that we've even stopped bothering telling each other about it? Fucking vortex, jesus, what the fuck. How do we reverse the polarity on that thing and make it start spinning these assholes out of Asheville so people who aren't half insane 60 year old trustafarii draped in gauze and beads can afford to live here again?

Okay, now I read the article and it pinged my memory. So s/he's not the usual sari draped trustafarian lunatic - s/he's a different kind. Still. My rant holds. Besides, what is with these people and their compound building? Can't they buy a house that's already here instead of cutting down yet more trees?

BP - I knew that book had been published, but I didn't put two and two together about the author until just now. And speaking of Drew Daniel, the new Matmos CD is AWESOME!!!

MGL - actually, maybe GP-O moving here will be enough to reverse the vortex's polarity. :)

I'd heard of Matmos before but don't know their music... I'll check it out, syntax. Thanks!

Supreme Balloon is indeed really good, especially the title track.

That's really sad, I didn't know Jaye had died. I saw him DJ a few months ago, and wondered where she was when I didn't see her by his side. Damn pronouns.
I kinda love Genesis. He really is a beautiful freak. Definitely out there, but almost every time I see/read him speak, I'm always surprised how profound and thoughtful he is. I was thrilled to meet and hang with him a bit at a party several years ago. He was really nice and funny (then again, why shouldn't he be?). New York will miss him.

Have you guys read Tape Delay? Great book.

I lost track of Matmos after "A chance to cut is a chance to cure". Maybe it's time to catch up.

I finally got to read this interview/article... I feel really sad for Gen, losing his soulmate.

Tape Delay looks like a great book- thanks for the tip, hellbient.
