Midweek 3-point update [More:]

1. I am horribly jetlagged and for reasons I can't explain, my alarm went off at 2.47am today. It took me another two hours to get back to sleep, and then Bailey woke me up at 5am. I know she missed me while I was away but I really, really did not want to pet her or know how loudly she can purr at that hour of the day.

2. Consequently, I needed a can of Red Bull this morning, and another one at lunchtime, as I had to undergo training this afternoon for our new case management system, which is designed to track each and every movement we do when we're using it. So we have all decided to draft everything in Word and then copy and paste it at the last minute, using the new system only when there's no other option.

3. Still looking for a new job. I was turned down by a big organisation while I was on holiday, but they have other vacancies at a less senior level so I am going to apply for those and see if that gets me anywhere.

Bonus point: I miss my boo.
1. Work, work, work, blah, blah, blah. This is the part in the quarter where all the clients change their minds about everything and I pull out all of my hair.

2. Wake tonight- the son of an active family at our church passed away yesterday (I had only met him once or twice, but the parents and one of the sisters are very involved at the church and are very lovely people, I love them very much). He had a massive heart attack a few weeks ago and never recovered. He was only 53, I feel terrible for the family.

3. I really MUST do laundry today- I need something clean to wear to the funeral home!

1. Laundry. The reduced wardrobe of someone who lives out of a suitcase for months means more laundry than I'd like.

2. Weird financial stuff. A friend who I was working with abroad sent over my last part of my pay in the form of a bunch of £20 traveler's checks, which he purchased at his bank, signed, and then made out to me. Apparently I can cash these at my American credit union, but I have a feeling this is going to turn into a wild financial goose chase complete with Benny Hill theme music. Why didn't he use Paypal?! I told him to use Paypal. Aargh.

3. Making banana bread tonight! Too hot to turn on the oven now, but my bananas are BLACK and totally ready to be breadified.

1. i'd like to state for the record i am blowing off both laundry and vaccuummming for a second time.

2. i have patches of dry skin and i think it might be Bee licking my face when i sleep.

3.Need to fill in blank.

1. In a Turkish grill eating meze.

2. Everyone is stressed. Weddings. Pshaw.

3. I'm obsessed with big brother at the moment. I've no idea who I want to win.

1. I just spent money I shouldn’t have, but it was for my hubby…(good excuse?)
2. Am nervous about appointment tomorrow.
3. Ethylene, try Zim’s Crack Crème (love that name) on your dry spots – bonus – smelly crème deters kitties at wee hours of morning.

1. I finished my big ass cataloging project today. Now I just have to get printed versions done, meet with the one of the department heads, and send it away.

2. I am very excited about the debauchery that will probably be going down this weekend. (I'm heading out of town to visit my homie in NY.)

3. Good god I've got a lot to do when I get home from work this afternoon (shower, paint my nails and toenails, pick up a car from my brother's, finish packing, do laundry, balance my finances).

1. I am rapidly losing tolerance for the idiot MDs in my lab. Go back to the clinic and stop trying to do science!

2. I am aware that is a bad attitude.

3. I have a lot of work to do before 5, and am stressed.
posted by gaspode 30 July | 14:13
1. I'm all alone here (except for the cat) for the next few days. Sigh.

2. Still waiting for a translation project I was supposed to receive today. I don't know what it is, I don't know big it is, I don't know how long it will take.

3. I made peperonata for dinner. It was delicious.

1. Bookcases still in progress. Finally got to the sealing stage, which is an improvement on staining (and smells less horrible too).

2. Having a very hard time convincing myself not to blow $1K to get to Pacific Yearly Meeting by the end of the week. I really wish I were there (and feel like I'm constantly not where I'm supposed to be) but it's a bad idea for a variety of reasons.

3. Stressed out and sad and lonely.

1. Decided not to go abroad for holidays, staying home in the heat instead but I have decreed we must spend at least a day at a sandy beach, so probably going to Ramsgate tomorrow for a few days. My terrace is lovely and cool in the evenings, but I haven't been sleeping very well (it was 32C at 2am the other night - I'd be a total sook in a Brisbane summer now (or more likely, have aircon)).

2. Sent off my application for my boss's job today! I'm really glad that I didn't stress about the application at all, and I'll be happy in my current job for a few years yet so it's all good regardless of the outcome. I haven't been this relaxed applying for a promotion before, and I think it's because my current job is still challenging and rewarding and not yet stale.

3. Enjoying a delicious frosty beverage and will very shortly consider a relaxing herbal cigarette, and continue ignoring the laundry as I plan on wearing a bikini for the next few days.

4. Suddenly found out that Ikea has the bed and mattress I want in stock. Frantically trying to find a UHaul to go pick it up. (I have an eensy wee car that it will never ever fit into.)

1. There were a bunch of bagels from Panera sitting in the office kitchen up for grabs, including a couple of these. I had one before reading the nutritional information. As I told co-workers, I'd be a lot less upset about it if there was any chance I'd never eat one again. But the thing was delicious, and I imagine it will ultimately be the thing that kills me.

2. It's been about 12 days since I first declared that I need to do laundry. Nothing on TV tonight, and no other commitments, so I think it's actually going to happen.

3. Boss is taking a personal day, and the office is pretty quiet in general. I'm coming down from a serious sugar buzz (see point 1) so a nap seems like a spectacular idea. Would it be bad form to get caught asleep in one of the Mother's Rooms?

1. Husband got interviewed by the local TV news guy but the interview got punted because they finally arrested the guy they think murdered the pregnant soldier a mile or so away from where I live. Breaking news!
This is not counting the other female soldier who was murdered and her apartment was burned-this was also a couple miles from me at the most. HER estranged hubby was arrested for that.
2. Hubby worked from home half the day which makes me cranky as I can't use the computer when HE is using it. But daughter went to Sonic and bought us all frosty drinks. (She was off work today as well as they were slow.)
3. Son in law will be on leave soon so he and my other daughter and the Grandbun will probably be in town next week. Yay! Grandbun!

1. The seller accepted my offer. Yay! Now I have to get a bazillion documents together and pray and whoa, holy shit, lot to do, including a sure to be big fun visit to the social security office tomorrow to get a new card. And liquidate my retirement account, which means more forms. And I need the signed contract, plz, seller, like, now. And on and on. Yowza!

2. Busy at work. Slacker boss, your lack of commitment makes my life more difficult.

3. Extra dog (dogsitting for out of town friend) + new kitten + grounded teenage boy + no AC = fleas + diarrhea all over my room last night at some point + lots o' whining + general sweaty misery punctuated by semi friendly canine/feline rough and tumble which must be monitored at home.

1. I'm starving. I want a bowl of cereal but I will wait until dinner.

2. I worked today. My job is a cake walk and I love the people. It's still nice to be home.

3. My dog is such a beautiful thing. She is a lovely, lovely creature. I love her.

1. My body seems to have betrayed me this week. The last three days have been filled with severe cramps (female problems), throwing up, and the shits (TMI?). The muscles along my ribcage were killin' me yesterday from puking (WTF? I only threw up once). I was still cramping last night and didn't fall asleep until about 5am. I'm finally feeling better now. I live in dread, though, that the pain will return.

2. On the plus side, I've eaten very little the last few days and lost a few pounds, I think.

3. Too tired...

MGL, Hooray!!

Pips, are the ribcage pains anywhere near where your gallbladder was? I know that I still get annoying "aches" (more than an ache, but not fullblown pain) right around where mine was occasionally, and mine's been gone nearly five years.

1. Mr. V is stressing over his CAT scan tomorrow. We have to wait until next Wednesday for results. So a week of chewing fingernails and praying ahead.

2. Laundry is all folded, but I really should do whites and I don't want to.

3. I got nothing else, I think. Nothing that wouldn't take an hour of posting and bore all of you, anyway.

1. I am crazy tired, at work 13 hours today starting at 630 am, which is too early for normal people.
2. I am famous in Iowa and Illinois now, and possibly other cities where I've done interviews with newspapers and radio as a spokesperson for my company.
3. Last night I made aioli but I still haven't made anything to put it on. I am so tired and so hungry, and I want crispy potatoes but I don't think I can get the energy to go to the store to get the potatoes or stay up late enough to cook them. Can I eat aioli on fingers?

1. It's been two days since we've started our 9 hour shift and I'm already missing the 4 hours that we had previously.

2. Have got loads of assessments to clear before I actually hit the floor, but unlike last time--I'm feeling much more confident about it. (Except for the first time I had to take the test--yikes!!!)

3. I'll be going back to the Haunted house on Friday to spend the weekend with my pals and see if anything else happens to us. All of us have now come into contact with the spirit at one point of time or another and are quite wary of it.

Thanks for askin' redvixen... The ribcage was definitely muscular, but yeah, my surgeon warned me about what I call "ghost gallbladder." He said I could get symptoms like before surgery sometimes, especially with fatty foods.

I'm not sure what's going on. It could be menstrual/hormonal in origin (I also have an ovarian cyst that causes pain sometimes) or gastrointestinal or both or neither. I have angry belly is all I know.

All the best for the mister, rv...

1. I get Thursday off.
2. I get Friday off.
3. Going to see Batman, and buy a bicycle so no one has to listen to me whine anymore about how I should really buy a bicycle already. I'm going to drop a lot of green on the endeavour (bike, clothes, lock, shoes, bike accoutrements), but I'm good with that.
Two days later I expect to be in traction due to over-exertion.
