New muxtape: All classical this time, since that's what I've been listening to most while hanging out here at home. Some ancient stuff, some 20th century stuff, and my favorite 8 and a half minutes from Beethoven's Ninth.
I guess it's the latent Buddhist in me... I kind of like the fact that once they're gone, they're gone. They're like sand mandalas- build them, enjoy them while they're here, and then sweep them away.
Only muxtapes don't require near the amount of effort, though.
I'm enjoying this, thanks BP! One summer a few years ago, I used to work two jobs, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The drive between them took about an hour, and one week during this hour the 'composer of the week' on BBC radio 3 (the classical station) was 'the American Minimalists'. I nearly crashed the car several times that week. That shit's hypnotic.
Okay, I found out what a muxtape is. Any idea why it won't let me upload mp3s to my list? Do I have to be maccy or firefoxy or hip in some other way, or do I just have poor taste in music?
I don't think you can upload, Hugh. I could be wrong, but I think you can only listen (stream?) and purchase the mp3s. I want to listen to this when I get home. Thanks, BP.
Thanks, seanyboy. I did all that, and I have mp3s that I try and upload, but then I get a line saying, "Error: The file you uploaded either wasn’t an mp3 or the upload was interrupted. Try it one more time, if it fails again (but plays on your computer) Muxtape can’t handle it yet."
What browser are you using? And on what operating system?
You can try temporarily disabling the following:
- Any Web Accelerators or Proxy servers.
- Anti-Virus software.
- Firewall.
- Site Blocking s/w.
This could be an issue with packet sizes and/or keepalive signals. It could be your ISP or your computer or your browser or (possibly) the MP3 file you're trying to upload. If I had to guess though, I'd say that there's something on your computer interrupting the upload in the name of keeping your computer safe.
Thanks, seanyboy; I just tried all of those things, but they didn't work. Probably because my computer is part of a school network, and there must be bigger firewalls out there that I can't even see. That's okay. Maybe some other day.
Hugh - it's not you. I've noticed a few of my songs won't upload either, and they're definitely .mp3's. Maybe it's the encoded bitrate or something, I'm not sure. I have found that opening the mp3 in Audacity and saving it as an mp3 (I use a bitrate of 192) will usually cause the mp3 to be uploadable. I haven't gone to any forums to see what the problem is, yet.
Hugh: Thank you for asking these questions, as I was wondering myself.
Zack (and everyone else): Thanks for troubleshooting. I won't be able to do this from work but I anticipate a home project in the near future (if I ever get caught up with all the photo processing I need to do, that is).
