My ten year old has a "date"! →[More:]So I come home from a few days in London to hear the news.....
"Mum, we have a year six leaving disco!" (he goes to secondary school next term)
Me "Cool!, I love what you're wearing"
Him:" Everybody is asking DATES!"
Me: "Ohhh" (thinking, my Aspie child doesn't do social cues really well)
Him: "It's OK though, I'm going with Bethany"
Me: "Ahhh" (Bethany is the best friend) " so how did that happen?"
Him: "well, I said, Bethany are you going to the Disco with anybody?"
Me: (Imagining little Bethany's hopes rising...) "ehhh, so what did she say?"
Him: " She just giggled and said "NO". So I said, all the boys are asking GIRLS!
(Me; Imagining the face he must have pulled at that!)
HIM: So I said Bethany we should go together"
Me: "What did Bethany say?"
Him: "She said, "Killian I am a girl"
Me; "Oh, is that a problem?"
Him: " I said. No don't worry, you're not a GIRL girl, you're my FRIEND, so that's OK, Mum, right?"
