We want what we want.→[More:]My 7-year-old has been asking for a hot tub since he was five. I don't know where this hot tub desire comes from. He has never been in a hot tub in his life. Tonight I sat down on the computer and this page was up.
My younger brother grew up determined to have a waterbed. (We were children in the 70s, what can I say.) He bought one when he was a teenager in the early 80s, and kept it until he got married in the late 80s, and his much-smaller-than-him wife immediately realized the physics problem... every time he rolled over a little roughly, she got launched ceiling-ward, out of a sound sleep.
Since y'all live in the land of hotels, maybe you could spend a night or two at a hotel with a hot tub, so he can get the experience? (I know little kids overheat really quick in hot tubs, but depending on his size, I bet he can withstand a few minutes here and there over the course of a night.) Maybe that'd get him past his fascination for awhile, till he can afford his own hot tub. :)
He's not so crazy, your son. One of my past shared houses had a hot tub. Man, it was nice, particularly after a long workout, or a tough day at work. And the best was in January, when you could sit in heated comfort having a back massage while snow fell around you.
But I would not have seen the attractions of this at such a young age. Your son is precocious.
My youngest sister goes through phases of really wanting things. Being the baby and being the most stubborn person I have ever met, she tends to get what she wants. Except for when she wanted my parents to buy a boat (what kind? I have no idea; just some sort of boat).
I'm surprised there's nothing on YouTube, considering this is one of the main drawbacks about waterbeds (at least, they now sell them with independently-sloshing sections because of this).
But there are precisely three types of video on YT: the British show that did a "leaking" waterbed prank, a Spanish-language show that had models falling backwards into pools of water disguised as waterbeds, and a Goodyear TV ad.
Seriously, there isn't even a "my [tenant's] waterbed leaked over vacation and here's the mess".
Anyway, LoriFLA, good thing he can't search for videos yet. The whole first page of results for "hot tub" is PG-13.

Yes, that is a good thing. I thought of that myself. We don't have any filters on the computer yet. I'm just glad hot tub pron didn't come up when he did a google search.
That is a great idea, BP. We were just in St. Petersburg, but the hotel didn't have a hot tub. Our next hotel must have a hot tub! I feel kind of bad that I didn't make a hot tub a priority. :-)
