What one song do you want, but not the whole record? So, you've got lots of iTunes vouchers, owing to your mad ticketmaster-spree, but not enough for a whole album. What songs do you download? Now, imagine you're this person; what three songs do you download?
If you haven't heard the Last Shadow Puppets yet, you might dig them. It's the lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys on a 60's pop jag - much less manic than the Arctic Monkeys. Based on some of the British melodic stuff you've been listening to I think you'd dig them.

You might also like the Duke Spirit - a British band with fuzzy guitars and female vocals. I think they sound a bit like Curve (who I saw on your Last.fm profile) meets Sonic Youth (especially on a song called "You Really Wake Up the Love In Me").

wow, i think i channeled you like a second after...

Too many to count. Most bands have one or two good songs in them, and that's fine, even commendable, since it's one or two more than I've got. The one's who have more are the ones who get elevated to higher status.

"This Person" has good taste. . .hee.

There is a cover of "Motherless Child" by Tom Jones backed by Portishead that you might like.

Maybe too mellow for you, but have you heard any Jaymay?

Actually, that whole Portishead is great (here's a review from a local blogger you might have seen before). I was never totally sold on them before, but this record is really solid. I still have to pick it up myself, but I heard the whole thing on imeem and was quite impressed.

'Supreme Balloon' by Matmos, though I went ahead and bought the whole album anyway. 'Final Home' by DJ Krush f. Esthero. And, hmm, 'The Magic of Ju-Ju' by Archie Shepp.

Yes, slack, said local blogger and I have discussed Portishead's new one over lunch. He's also recommended British Sea Power to me, lately; totally different direction, of course, but I think I liked the one track I found. I was recently remarking to my Guy that as much as I loved Amy Milan's "Skinny Boys", when I downloaded her second-most-popular download, using these iTunes certificates, I was disappointed in it.

I totally cop to liking Justin Timberlake's music - nowhere near enough to buy a CD of his, but any of his singles are great.

That, and his SNL performance convinced me he's not just a pop music monkey - the guy has legitimate talent.

Plus, any electronic single from indiefeed.com would do in a pinch.

Of course, now that I see the listing presented, maybe June Tabor or Sheila Chandra. Explosions in the Sky might work, or Kinski.

Your mileage may vary.
