Good things Tell me about the recent positives in your life. I'll go first. [More:]

Craigslist brought me a new housemate with a very sweet dog. I'm really excited about it. I've wanted a dog for. ev. er. but know that my job doesn't really allow me enough time to do a dog justice. Now I'll get the benefits without the responsibility. The dog has no behavior issues at all. No chewing, entirely potty trained with a clear record of no accidents, is sociable, very loving and a snugglebun.

I'm drinking an IPA, my fave type of beer.

Volunteering at the local community garden is cooler than I'd ever have imagined. I'm working with the teen program, and I want to take (most of) them home with me. Fridays they harvest, and Saturday is selling at the market and weeding/planting/prepping etc. Then they have a communal meal before the day ends. I got a plot of my own to supplement my home garden. I spent a couple of hours there Friday and most of the day Saturday. There are trees laden with fruit, free for the harvesting. I brought home probably 15 lbs of plums, and made 11 jars of plum jam today. I have probably 5 lbs still left. Other fruit trees I now have access to include peaches, figs, persimmons (of the non-astringent variety), apples, and mulberries. At least. The kids like me a lot, and I like them. One asked if I'd adopt her.

It rained very hard today, which is a blessing. We'd gone back into drought status already.

I feel confident that asking the landlord/property managers to install a rain gutter (for water-saving purposes) will be successful.

I have enough summer dresses to get me through work for a few weeks at a time.

I'm losing weight without trying.

There's a possibility of a new job for me, working with people I've worked with before and respect. I'd be closer to my job than I am now, would have more regular hours, would make more money, and would be in a much more liberal environment. And they asked ME to apply. I've never been specifically recruited before.

Isn't it so nice to take time to think about what's going well?
Stewriffic, I love that you are volunteering at a community garden! I am so jealous! We don't have a community garden, but as I speak one is about to break ground.

I got a great yearly review at work.

I've been invited to a few upcoming events and people seem pleased to have me around.

I love my trainer and love working out with her. It's torture, but in a good way.

I just found out about Mudcrutch not too long ago. How did I not know about them? I like their 2008 album, a lot!

I'm housesitting for my neighbor. They have a pool. It's awesome.

I had a truly delightful weekend with someone I never thought I'd be friends with. I was in love with a man, and we broke up before we'd really even begun, and he met and started dating her almost immediately afterwards, and moved in with her 6 months later.

But now we get along like a house on fire, and I really enjoy her company. We spent the night watching great movies, cooking cakes, chatting until dawn, playing guitar, and gossiping.

The next afternoon was spent watching a mutual friends band play, in a courtyard of a record store, drinking wine, watching the rain get the others wet (I was under shelter).

My group of friends is expanding, and these guys, who I've always liked, are becoming better and better friends, and the more I see them and get to know them, the more I like them.

I'm happy every day that I'm not friends with my ex-best friend the way I was - the friendship was toxic and highly unhealthy - but we're friends again on a casual level, and I can enjoy her company again without feeling like I'm about to be bitched about.

I'm single at the moment, and really content with that. Not in love with that man anymore, but still good friends, which is great. He's a part of my life, but I'm not interested in anything more than that - which is good, as he's head over heels in love with my friend!

Winter is here, and the weather makes for cosy nights with hot water bottles and curling up with books, hot drinks, and good music.

Oh, and it's now lunch time, so I'm off to go meet a different new friend whom I'm really enjoying getting to know.

I was at a wedding today where a friend told me that the son of his son's preschool teacher attends the college where I work, and when my friend dropped my name, the son remembered that I had taught a research class that he attended last semester. That was nice because lately I'm having a bit of job depression.

My weight loss program is going well and exactly according to plan.

Tonight I'm uploading and captioning pictures from my recent trip to Australia, and remembering all of the wonderful things we did there and the friends we made.

This morning after another night of hardly any sleep and a seriously biohazard diaper Elliot looked at me and gave me the hugest smile ever. It made me feel really good.

The contractors are getting real close to finishing our bathrooms. It's been a long six weeks without full functioning bathrooms.

Been enjoying summer in the city a lot lately. Going for lots of long walks along the rivers and bike trails.

I am comfortable with who I am, what I am, where I am and how the future looks. Stress has been almost entirely eliminated. I love, and am loved. Things have never been better.

my fractured rib from a cycling accident feels like it's finally healed, so i can hopefully return to capoeira training tomorrow, after a month off.

The nine zillion crazy people who were at our house this weekend for my brother's graduation have all gone home, Alhamdulillah!

We have leftover crab legs and they are delicious.

I have a new pair of linen pants which are really great and were on sale.

I just found out that I qualify for the Economic Stimulus Payment Thingy even though I was working abroad!

All the books I wanted have been placed on hold at the library (yay internet-based hold system!) to be picked up tomorrow.

My brother said the other day: "I'm surprised, and happy, that we don't fight anymore."

I had a lovely week socializing with people I really like but don't get to see that often.

We had several glorious days of sunshine, so the fog's not even bothering me very much this morning.

I'm starting to feel physically stronger and just more integrated from going to the gym and doing yoga more regularly again, and my sprained knee seems to be bothering me less, which means my lower back is also bothering me less.

I feel like I'm starting to get a coherent inkling of how I want to proceed professionally for the next few years. I groused about having to take a career counseling class, but the class ended up being really helpful in formulating my own goals.

I'm drinking tea and watching the fog and there's a cat purring on my lap and I got enough sleep and it's just a generally a nice morning.

My wife and I are dealing with the empty nest thingie pretty well, I think. It's very sad, but we also know that we are launching a pretty good human being into her adult life. And concentrating on making our (most of the time) kidless life interesting and fun.

I had a very intense and fun trip to the bay area. Enrolled said kid in what looks like a great program down there. Got to be there on the first day of same-sex marriage, at what felt like ground zero of it all. Spent a great evening with people I have long admired from afar.

This week has two more meetups with old friends from my "surface" life.

I have a lot of free time this week since a bunch of my friends are out of town, so I am going to finally sit down and make some jewelry.

I mailed a small gift and some photographs from my Georgia trip to the superhot guy I was (am?) dating who has now moved to Ohio. It makes me feel good to get things in the mail. It can be a challenge.

Went to the Russian baths this weekend which was a lot of fun, and my mom even came in from MA for it.

But the best thing of all is that I got a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE new monitor at work after we all thought the budget for them was canceled! I'm so happy! it makes reading page after page so much easier. I brought in my friends from another department to be jealous of me.

Well, things were going really swell for me today until about 5:00 PM.

Then, the wheels fell off. :(
