1993filter do you think in this song the lyrics "you've never been a waste of my time/it's never been a drag" are sarcastic or am i not getting something

Definitely a sarcastic comeback to the whole "you said that I wasn't worth talking to" / "accused me of trying to fuck it up" deal. I'm not sure how else you could interpret that.

yeah. i think it just felt out of place because the rest of the lines are so straightforward/direct across most of her songs

(and what I mean, of course, is 1993CHAT. not filter.)

My favorite Liz Phair song.

If Raymond Carver ever wrote pop songs, I imagine they'd sound a little like that.

This is my fave Liz Phair song, too, and I don't think the lines are sarcastic. I'm too tired to write a treatise on it, but suffice it to say that's part of what makes a great song - it can mean different things to different people.
